"Customization"

Like any society Cybertron wasn't absent from having beauty standards and preferences on certain physical appearance depending on the region you visited, many had a say in what they were looking for as the "ideal look"

For example there's Iacon. One of the biggest cities of the planet and home of many important political figures of their society. It's streets and buildings are a reflection of the wealth and upper class that resides in the city, so of course the citizens have to play their part on keeping the facade of their city.

For this, the council made great emphasis on their citizens hygiene, implementing it on the medical recommendations.

"It is recommended to keep any grease, dust or any substance off the plating and specially the joints to avoid any possible rust spread on the plating"

They exaggerated, a little too much, on the need to keep the frame clean and free of any stain with the excuse of deceases and even possible lose of body parts; this was mainly directed to the working class, higher class believed that if the workers forced themselves to remain clean they would do the same with their work areas/stations and avoid these places like factories, construction areas and docks ruining the pristine image they wanted to maintain for Iacon.

So naturally the high hygiene became the norm for the Iaconians, along with shiny and light colors, this to make emphasis on how the high maintenance their frames were kept on. It was incredible rare to see an Iaconian with a dark color palette that wasn't implemented as uniform of any institution.

The standard of Iaconian had clear blue eyes due to the meaning of this color in their society; thanks to the energon, the color blue was associated with fresh, modern and energized look on almost anything, so Iacon made it their signature color along with the gold of it's buildings to represent their wealth and the silver/white for the purity as a complementary. Along with their citizens brilliant colors, Iacon became Cybertron's finest city and an example of perfection and high class.

For an Iaconian the ideal look consists of stylish yet modest, a minimalistic yet modern look that makes others orbit towards you.

Then there was Kaon, the complete opposite.

Kaon is often described more as a fortress rather than a city, this thanks to being the capital with the biggest, most dangerous and vicious arenas of all the planet, fighters being mostly criminals trying to earn their right to live. While Iacon is place where the higher class goes to flaunt their wealth, Kaon is the place where they build it, where all their underpaid workers and barely legal bets on which gladiator will fall that cycle reside.

One known say is that if you want a change of appearance, make it your armor, optics, denta, paint job, engraving, any customization of any kind, legal or not you go to Kaon.

There are no restrictions to how one is meant to look, at least not imposed by their government. It is not a place that had beauty standards per se, but it's citizens wear specific looks that are not popular in any other cities or regions.

Kaon having a high criminal rate and being home to big concentration of corrupt groups it had the unspoken rules about what image were you meant to portray to keep yourself safe and out of trouble; heavy armor, dark or muted colors, red or yellow optics were some of the basic and most common traits that identify you as a local.

The heavy armor was a sign of being related to any fighting business and/or being a war frame, this type of bots were to not be mess around with and many common bots started wearing bigger covers to hang onto that reputation to avoid getting robbed or assaulted. The dark/muted paint job was to avoid drawing any attention, most other cities were known to use vibrant colors so they became the easiest way to tell if someone wasn't a local and therefore making them easy to scam. Seeing someone wearing bright colors at the same time than being well armored or having the right color of optics usually meant the bot was flashy or was incredibly dangerous, someone that was not afraid of making themselves known in the streets of Kaon meant that bot that could risk it. Last thing were the optics, red and yellow being very common due to those being the colors of war frame optics, usually those soldiers that do not survive are taken apart and used as spare parts, must of the population has those due to the amount that go and get modifications or for medical reasons, others are build with them, having a different color means being an outsider so it remains as the standard.

The ideal look for an Kaonite is one that imposes dominance: brawny, sharp and rugged. They enjoy someone who carries themselves with confidence and that they can back it up.

Other cybertronian colonies, even thought they are not on the planet, carry similar views, take Velocitron as an example.

In this planet people prefer their interactions to be straightforward and as fast as possible, they are not the type of people to be shy with, since they can get bored easily. A velocitronian most carry themselves with ease and security on their words and image, they are specially attracted to intense and flashy colors, with sharp and slender builds, well maintained frames are a priority for racers since in this planet racing can be high-risk, they are very meticulous about their frames being adequate for the sport.

The ideal look for a velocitronian most be striking and dramatic. Maintaining a aerodynamic and uncluttered look. If you manage to attract their attention with looks alone, all you have to do now is win a race against them.

Even thought most cities carried very different ideals on what is an ideal look, there were things that were standard or viewed as common sense to achieve a presentable look, these can vary from how many colors they wear, if they carry accessories, engravings, etc.
