Kaleb is an infiltrator and a former member of Podemos Bailar, an anti-Black Hat organization that split off from the PEACE organization. His team dedicated themselves to taking down Black Hat's operations and exposing his secrets. After Kaleb and his group successfully infiltrated Black Hat's computers and leaked information, Black Hat sent Demencia to clean up the group. Kaleb was cornered in the manor and personally abducted by Black Hat, who banished him into the twisted prison of his own book.

Nango is the princess of a race of beings called Huachi (mermaid) introduced in the extended lore of the Cartoon Network Latin American series Villainous. She originates from a trapped race living in a sunless world within Black Hat's book, where she meets and grows close to the captive protagonist Kaleb.
