his love for his wife played a huge role in who he became as a person. his love for his wife. and while i can absolutely believe him doing a lot of not-cool things inside of his grief—sadness makes many a monster, y’know—cheating on someone once he’s in an established relationship with them isn’t one of them.

“but there were so many instances of him being a womanizer!” 1. clara was a target. 2. you think this guy hasn’t been using casual sex as a coping mechanism? 3. i know they left out the whole “you’re seeing the hole and not the donut” scene but you let me see the entirety of that in context with the rest of the narrative and i will defend my hill. like this was a guy who had everything taken from him and he is offered a position in an organization where he is encouraged to turn off his feelings. don’t stand there and tell me that wouldn’t sound appealing to someone with that kind of mournful trauma.

nobody wants to talk about how he probably had to go id her corpse? no? nobody want to talk about how he’s probably got that gory imagery haunting him when he sleeps? that his monsters might just look like her, like his baby boy, “why didn’t you protect us, we loved you, how could you do this, this is your fault—“

i’m just saying that if you’re so quick to lump certain villains in with a shit ton of malicious behavior just on the grounds that they were the “bad guy” in their respective poorly-written media then maybe you need to pay more attention to the details.
