Honestly they saved Jaha from honour-suicide bc of bullshit ungrounded āinspirationātalk, they saved Abby from burning on the Exodus because of ??? bullshit. Just bullshit speculation.
Itās very interesting what āpreviousā clips they decided to show for this episode. āWe donāt decide who lives or diesā. lots of clips edited in a way to convey that the Skaikru are out of their depth and that they DID start the war. Interesting. good.
what? there was a political level below the council? like āstation leadersā? youād think theyād have been important for at least fleshing out background no -
aaaaaaand Jaha gives up. I mean??? you have a whole fucking space station, from what i can see you miraculously saved a lot of ppl from different parts of depowered ARK off screen - are there no engineers among them? I know Raven is a genius, but goddamn, she made it to earth in an escape pod BUILT BASICALLY FROM SCRATCH with a broken pressure regulator. Cannabalise the fucking ARK.
Jaha is such a bad leader. i know they try to position him as though heās not but honestly???? he executed people without trial for nothing because??? the rules said he had to, and donāt try to tell me they float ppl because rationing of resources, you wouldnāt throw out a body that you poured years of food, energy, education and indoctrination into just to throw it out. THEY HAVE PERMA- CONTRACEPTION MEASURES. why the fuck not make sure that your population can be sustained by controlling its growth?Ā Donāt tell me they couldnāt easily let smaller crimes than murder/rape be punished with community service to control crime. Jaha is such a bad leader, he keeps thinking that his people just canāt be trusted. He doesnāt trust them with vital information about THEIR lives. He executes a good friend in cold blood to keep the secret. He then plans to kill 300 people without their consent or knowledge. He sees that his good friend that he executed was right and people understand their situation, understand they are in this ARK together, are willing to work on the problem, to sacrifice for the solution, even their lives. Then he lies to them AGAIN about vital information that concerns their lives, and plans to leave about 1300 people behind on the ARK with no plans to cannibalise more dropships while he puffs off to Earth. AND NOW, I know, heās gonna do his noble suicide for my people thing but then he gets saved by bullshit AGAIN because somehow he can come to Earth after all and spread some more pull-the-wool over peopleās eyes ALIE literal digital reality shit.
This show almost literally said (with the 320 willingly dying => being the best that was brought out of people) and now again seems to be sayingĀ that if you are willing to die for YOUR people youāre a Good person. No. Itās not NEARLY as simple as that.
Right now Jaha, with the Ark dying, doesnāt think of Jakeās good ideas of coming together and thinking of a solution again and just throws up his hands: oh well, whatever i guess us thousand are gonna die, no attempts scheduled to make it to earth. He has NEVER been an inspiring figure. He has never really been a very good person. at all.
I wonder if Lexa will make the point that actually itās really stupid to be like āI will bear it so they donāt have toā. oh boo hoo, poor Clarke āhad toā commit a genocide to get back 50 or so of her own people (including her mum) and she wonāt make it known. She will bear the burden of that guilt. No. Fuck no.
Every single ARker should know what atrocities have been committed to give them a chance at life and happiness and freedom. Every Arker should know and feel that guilt and pain because it means they will act to prevent it being necessary another time! Itās like leaving out war crimes out of the history books because well OUR people shouldnāt feel bad about all that murder that wonāt help the nation and anyway itās not like they could help it (firstly, yeah right, and secondly: BUT THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP IT IN THE FUTURE) Itās like; I guess hey they do benefit from dat genocide, but whatever, fuck responsibility. fuck co-existing with others in the future as thought theyāre human worthy of the basics like life.
The worst thing in the world is not that tremendous suffering is caused, but that there is no outrage over it. no condemnation. Or at the very least an awareness that it is not RIGHT just BECAUSE it allowed you to survive.
no. What was done is NOT right DESPITE it allowing you to survive.
(i.e. ARkers are such fucking horrible people - look at ep 1 of season 3 they do not give a single fuck that 300 people died for those bracelets/medical shit/piano - they will not give a fuck again and again and again) If people think itās totally fine, why not repeat? Repeat endlessly across the whole fucking board.
SO STOP LYING TO YOURĀ PEOPLE EVERY FUCKING TIME. Leaders make decisions because somebody has to and I suppose that in some really wacky situatons like the whole of the 100 they have to bear responsibility for some pretty gruesome shit in favour of survival of the whole of their people. But these people are responsible for the decisions being made on their behalf or in their name. They have the power to choose, and act as well.
Why do I hold the Skaikru to such high standards when I donāt the Grounders? I mean...they certainly donāt see the fall of the Mountain as Not Right. Itās literally destroyed their greatest enemy, probably greatest threat. ...They must only be happy. Killing in battle is ābraveā (which makes more sense when considering how inhuman their reaper enemies are). They have a different code, they always act from self-defense. They see it as a necessity. But they donāt feel bad about mass murder. But Lexa (Anya too) - she still has a focus on peace, working together, and some serious dose of forgiveness/awful justice balanced with the practical considerations of keeping in power. She strives to be better. She KNOWS that peace is better than bloodshed. She doesnāt see violence as justified so much, she sees it as necessary. She didnāt even plan to destroy the Maunon - actual monsters to the Grounders, I donāt think the ārescueā nature of the original plan came just from Clarke.
And I donāt think she ever lies about responsibility or atrocity to her people. All of her people are responsible for their peopleās survival, and the actions taken to accomplish it. But does she call it Right? My impression is no. I hope Iām right. (thereās still a double standard there in my thinking but i need to consider it some more).
WELL. that was the first five minutes of the episode and rant on morality. good show this it really makes me think. thanks carrot clexa.
