since people like to take pop-culture continuity logic so seriously now-a-days, here's a BigBrain™ take :
the Slayers anime universe is a part of Looney Tunes canon. A throw away joke from the first movie states that the film's villain was in fact just Michigan J Frog, hopped up on magic-juice.
(i’m sure if you asked the people who originally found him, they’d call that damn frog a demon too. he lived for centuries locked away in a tomb of stone until unearthed by some greedy space-slob)

oh, yeah, definitely not a normal frog

Joyrock introduces himself
Slayers THE MOTION PICTURE (1995)
possibly not a normal frog...
Questions that have never been answered
Why'd they name him "Joyrock?"
Also somewhat interesting to see younger Lina actually cry at witnessing Joyrock murdering those people for funsies. Lina doesn't usually show much in the way of emotional pain at all the horrors she encounters. Is it because she's like fucking 13 in this movie? Did she become numb to that sort of thing by the time she was 15 at the start of the tv series?
