Hello to you all! In today's article, we are going to talk about mutants. As you certainly know, Fox and Marvel have made a deal which allows Marvel to use the X-Men universe and more largely the mutants in the MCU. Be careful, this article might contain spoilers (Doctor Strange 2, Miss Marvel and Black Panther II mostly). 

The first appearance of mutants in the MCU was signed by Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange 2. 

Despite a shamefully brief appearance, nonetheless this marks a turning point among the heroes of the franchise. 

The second appearance concerns an important character, Kamala Khan or Miss Marvel, in the eponymous series. Indeed, a discussion between Khan and her friend Bruno Carell tells us Kamala's powers come from a mutation in her genes. 

However, it is exactly what brought the mutant powers, l'Homo Superior. 

Finally, the third appearance concerns Namor, the Scion of the Seas. This mutant is the leader of Talocan, a sub-marine realm. 

But why can the appearance of these mutants take a disastrous turn in the MCU? 

The mutants only appeared in the MCU very recently, which obviously causes inconsistencies. We all know it, what makes Marvel's breadth, it is all the little stories which interlock to form the huge story Marvel is. 

The apparitions of these new characters, here a group with a great sweep, can mean numerous challenges. 

How to explain their absence in the MCU's most marking moments? How to integrate them to the perfectly well-oiled machine of the MCU? 

These two challenges are crucial to permit the perfect integration of the mutants in the MCU. Indeed, on account of their power, their absence among Marvel's most important battles will require a solid good explanation. 

But Marvel sometimes has the habit of changing the fate of its characters when they integrate the MCU, which might potentially be the case for the mutants. 

The mutant question is far from being resolved, as another question is in sight; how to tell their story? 

The mutants, their history, their fights, were all told in the movies of the X-Men series. The Fox still owns these movies, despite the deal made with Marvel. We then know their past. And even if it is not integrating with the MCU, their story is already written. 

That is why we can count on something recently established in the MCU. It is obviously the Multiverse. Indeed, it may be an important card to play to justify the absence of the mutants in Marvel's biggest events on one hand and not tell their story twice on the other hand. 

Moreover, one of the most important mutant figures, Charles Xavier, did not appear in the dimension we all know, but in a foreign dimension, which might lead us to think that the use of the Multiverse may be the explanation. 

To finish, if it is not treated carefully and with care, the insertion of the mutants in the Marvel world could turn out to be a full fiasco. But the MCU development is allowing Marvel to have more solutions to fully integrate the mutants.

And once this integration is completed, we are certain of the richness they can bring to the universe.

Mutants et Marvel : un combat contre les incohérences

Bonjour à tous ! Dans l'article d'aujourd'hui, nous aborderons le sujet des mutants. Comme vous le savez certainement, Fox et Marvel ont passé un accord qui permet à Marvel d'utiliser l'univers des X-Men et plus largement des mutants dans le MCU. Attention, cet article pourrait contenir des spoilers (Doctor Strange 2, Miss Marvel et Black Panther II notamment).

La première apparition des mutants dans le MCU a été signée par Charles Xavier dans Doctor Strange 2.

Malgré une apparition honteusement brève, cette dernière marque néanmoins un tournant parmi les héros de la franchise.

La deuxième apparition, quant à elle, concerne un personnage important, Kamala Khan ou Miss Marvel, dans la série éponyme. En effet, un échange entre Khan et son ami Bruno Carelli nous apprend que les pouvoirs de Kamala proviennent d'une mutation dans ses gènes.

Or, c'est exactement ce qui a amené les pouvoirs des mutants, l'Homo Superior.

Enfin, la troisième apparition concerne Namor, le Prince des Mers. Ce mutant est le dirigeant de Talocan, un royaume sous-marin.

Mais pourquoi l'apparition de ces mutants peut tourner à la catastrophe dans le MCU ?

Les mutants ne sont apparus que très récemment dans le MCU, ce qui évidemment provoque des incohérences. On le sait tous, ce qui fait la richesse de Marvel, ce sont toutes les petites histoires qui s'imbriquent entre elles pour former l'immense récit qu'est Marvel. L'apparition de nouveaux personnages, ici d'un groupe avec une grande ampleur, peut représenter plusieurs défis...

Comment expliquer leur absence dans les évènements les plus marquants du MCU ? Comment les intégrer à la machinerie parfaitement huilée du MCU ?

Ces deux défis sont cruciaux pour permettre la parfaite intégration des mutants dans le MCU. En effet, en raison de leur puissance, leur absence parmi les combats les plus importants de Marvel devra avoir une bonne explication solide.

Mais Marvel a parfois l'habitude de changer le destin de ses personnages quand ils intègrent le MCU, ce qui pourrait potentiellement être le cas pour les mutants.

La question des mutants est loin d'être résolue, car une autre question se profile; comment raconter leur histoire ?

Les mutants, leur histoire, leurs combats, tout a été raconté par les films de la série X-Men. Ces films appartiennent toujours à la Fox, malgré l'accord passé avec Marvel. On connaît donc ainsi leur passé. Et même s'il n'est pas en intégration avec le MCU, leur histoire est bel et bien écrite.

C'est pourquoi on peut compter sur quelque chose qui a été installé récemment dans le MCU. C'est bien évidemment le Multivers. En effet, il peut être une carte importante à jouer pour justifier l'absence des mutants dans les plus grands évènements de Marvel d'une part et ne pas conter une deuxième fois leur histoire d'autre part.

De plus, une des figures les plus importantes des mutants, Charles Xavier, n'est pas apparue dans la dimension que nous connaissons tous, mais bien dans une dimension étrangère, ce qui pourrait porter à penser que l'utilisation du Multivers pourrait être l'explication.

Pour conclure, si ce n'est pas pris avec des pincettes et avec attention, l'insertion des mutants dans le monde de Marvel pourrait s'avérer être un fiasco total. Mais le développement du MCU permet à Marvel de pouvoir avoir plus de solutions pour totalement intégrer les mutants.

Et une fois cette insertion réussie, nous ne doutons pas de la richesse que ces derniers pourront apporter à l'univers.

Ca fait toujours bizarre de voir Stipe avec ses superbes cheveux...

Murmur est très particulier dans la discographie du groupe, production extrêmement nette et sans fioritures, avec une basse qui sonne magnifiquement et est très audible, quasiment comme dans Violent Femmes.

Mike Mills est probablement un des meilleurs bassistes des 80's, sinon plus. Son jeu au médiator est ce qui donne ce son, en plus de la marque de sa basse.

Comme le dit ce remarquable texte anglais de Decade 7787, l'histoire de la production du disque est intéressante puisque le groupe a cessé la collaboration avec le 1er producteur, jugé trop perfectionniste.

40 years after its original release, MURMUR is still fascinating in its eerie sense of musical space.

Back in 1983, REM were most often compared to the Byrds, and thanks to Peter Buck's ringing guitar on songs like ‘Talk About The Passion’, ‘Catapult’, or ‘Sitting Still’, along with Michael Stipes' lead vocals over soaring harmonies, it was easy to see why.

But that was merely one influence, and a misleading one at that, because with no one source dominating, R.E.M. faintly recalled a host of mid-'60s L.A. bands from The Leaves to "underground” faves like Kaleidoscope, David Lindley's first band. R.E.M. might have thoroughly transformed their influences but the result sounded both familiar and wholly original.

Murmur's oddness was affecting because it wove itself around structures and riffs that sounded familiar – a strange system hum, for instance, winds itself up into the catchiest opener, RADIO FREE EUROPE.

In these efforts, Buck's guitar solos were capable of breaking through the mix and soaring, and any band that could come up with melodies this rich knew a thing or two about pop music.

The lyrics, however, were a flight of ideas from the mind of a meditative 23-year-old. Trying to unravel them, it still feels as though you're divining the deepest of riddles for meaning.

“Early sessions for the album with Stephen Hague, the synth-pop producer who later worked on New Order's True Faith, were quickly rejected, and American producers Mitch Easter and Don Dixon were brought in instead,” wrote Jude Rogers for Word in 2009.

“They seemed to understand that although REM had the rhythms of rock, the jangle of the Byrds and the raw grit of Gang Of Four in their belly, they also needed to create a sound-world of their own. Easter and Dixon brought in strange noises – bangs and bells — and recorded instruments at varying distances from the microphone, so you couldn't place where the ghostly figures were coming from.”
