“You’re not gonna, like, forget me, right?” Eddie asked and hated that he did. It was far too cheesy. Especially with Simple Minds blasting through the arcade because he’d yet to turn the tunes off.

Jonathan looked at him, still flush against the arcade machine Eddie had pressed him against. “Eddie,” he said, and sounded upset that he’d even considered that.

“College is big, man,” he continued, not sure why he was trying to justify this. College had been what Jonathan had wanted since they were kids and he knew that. He wanted that for him too, it just came with the price of too much distance between them. Again.

The cogs were turning over in Jonathan’s mind, Eddie could see him trying to think of something to say. Before he could, Eddie kissed him, knowing that would work just as well if not better than whatever he could come up with.

“I won’t,” Jonathan muttered, pulling away just enough to say the words. “Long as you promise you won’t forget me when the band gets big.”
