Theory all captain America starts off straight and once you touch the shield it turn you bisexaul with a thirst for their bestie and Bucky.
That's why steve was willing to go to war over Bucky it was the shield and once captain America was able to get rid of the shield for long enough without being near bucky plus the 5 year blip and the shield being slightly broken and the Thor magic hammer he was able to break the spell enough to return to his wife . However the shield kept whispering in his ears bucky bucky bucky he was overcomed with gay thought and sure he doesn't mind being bisexaul but he has a wife damn it! so He had enough and passed it on to Sam he was going to bury it but erm he couldn't.
Sam is horrified when he starts crushing on Bucky and that's why he give it away but after spending time with bucky sam decides he does want to be bisexaul and take it back.
With sam and steve accepting there bisexuality and that's why they became the best captain america ever. John couldn't accept he was in love with Lemar or Bisexaul and thus the shield got a little angy and decided to mind control the flag smasher to kill Lemar soo big yikes.

Not to worry cuz now the shield giving him a second chance despite him not wielding it any more. it never leaving it still in his mind screaming gay gay homosexaul the shield realize it's mistake and calls in bucky that's why he's there not because of Mel or anything the shield called him to be yet again another "captain America " Bisexaul awakening and that is also why John is so happy to see him and acting all giddy it's once again the shield claiming another victim to add to the bucky captain America harem.
