But Shang Hua is a musical cultivator, one that can't play any instruments. He can sing, though, but his cultivation only comes through songs that he *loves*. So like, just humming a little ditty won't do. He has to LOVE what he's singing, he has to Feel Things while he's singing.

He has to sing with his whole chest, no reservations or hesitations.

So he gets to be very good at silencing arrays, is what I mean.

The A Ding peak lord, Wang Anshui just *happens* to wander by when Shang Not-yet-Qinghua is singing his heart out in some hidden away place on A Ding. Maybe by one of those cliffside waterfalls.

Anyway, Wang Anshui realizes immediately what the problem is. Fortunately, he's good friends with the Qing Jing peak lord, Shen Anwei. And Anwei has his *own* disciple issues to deal with--namely his feral little disciple who bites and claws in fights, who forgets to use cultivation except when he thinks he's fighting for his life.

Shen Jiu's problem is that he needs to feel *safe* in order to properly cultivate. Which is nearly never does. So you see the problem, yes?

Thankfully, Wang Anshui is something of a genius, and therefore he brings Shen Anwei into his confidence about their little disciple problem.

And so, Shen Jiu is voluntold to go teach this A Ding peak disciple how to play the qin. And Shang Not-yet-Qinghua is ordered to make Shen Jiu feel *safe* enough to cultivate.

Cue the montage of :

SJ spying on the ADP disciple Shin wants him to teach.

SJ discovering that Shang Not-Yet-Qinghua *does* have musical cultivation after all! And the music he creates is so--unlike anything he's heard before. It brings to mind the flight of birds across a cloudless sky, the movement of stars across a moonless night, the feeling of flying without wings, the feeling of *hope*, the feeling that someday, someone might look upon Shen Jiu and *know* him.

I think someone should write about this

And like sqq(sj) refusing to go to qian Cao because(not completely because tho) a lot of the medics there are men and he would most likely be treated by either his shidi who he perceives as a man or the qian Cao peak lord who IS a man

So like sj is refusing treatment and sqh decides to just like change gender on the spot

This doesn't actually work but it keeps sj stunned long enough to see how bad his wounds are

Most people don't even know sqh is genderfluid because

1:she usually avoids people

2:she typically presents more masculine

3:his shizun didn't make a big deal about it

4:the people on the peak purposely don't tell others because they find it funny

Mqf is still on the peak but because he's not head diciple he gets sent on more missions and like cures multiple diseases(many of which may or may have not been future wife plots)

Or alternatively mqf IS head diciple and sqh helps him out a lot

They could also co-operate the peak

Ok I didn't mean for this to get so long but endgame would eventually be either scumplane or mushang

Oh and QCsqh would like get the original goods sqh to work together with them for plants from the demonic realm

Lqg is always breaking things,he doesn't control his students, and his always off on missions doing whatever fuck shit he does without doing his paper work

Qqq complains about everything and always asks for new items without taking into account the aftereffects of whatever she wants

Mqf puts in orders for extinct plants then proceeds to look his shang shixiong in the eyes and say "I hope this isn't too big of an ask" shidi what the fuck???(mqf knows sqh CAN get it so why not take advantage of it)

There is no way wqw needs THAT much sword polish.please be realistic Wei shixiong,and stop making dick jokes when sqh is on the verge of a breakdown

Zhangmen shixiong is emotionally repressed, doesn't communicate,is self destruction,gives sqh too much paperwork, and let's sqq get away with FAR too much(sqh could write a book about the sect leaders issue and he infact HAS written a book about his issues-he did lose it though so that might be a problem)

And sqq is straight up negligent to his kids(this is pre binghe so he's not abusing him yet) he treats app his Marshel siblings coldly for reasons he refuses to tell, never clears his name up,ALSO emotional repppresed and ALSO refuses to communicate

(obviously he would talk in more detail about this and probably point out specific moments and secrets)

He starts digging so deeply into his marshel siblings past that they low-genuinely have to tie him up and gag him(no shut up wqw don't make a joke about that)

Shang qinghua was up on Qian Cao crashes out and jumps out the window because he can NOT for the life of him remember what he said

Anyways scumplane somehow happens don't ask me why or how and they talk shit about everyone together

if this happened in a situation where every peaklord was present including the unnamed ones they would have should sqh into a soun proof Room until it was over,unfortunately they couldn't just get rid of the an ding peak lord because they(for some odd reason) triggered a protection spell on the mountain that had WAY too much qi put into it so they were stuck for a few hours

Like shen jiu uses mildly illegal suppressants to hide his heat and pass for a beta and shang qinghua(airplane) being the person in charge of logistics has someone to provide him with safe suppressants,also sqh cut off his scent glands because he found them to be annoying (mqf would be incredibly upset over this medical malpractice) which helps a lot in passing as a beta since he just doesn't smell like anything(that helps during deal making since the other party can't tell how he feels by his scent) ,he still gets his heat if he doesn't use his suppressants and gets affected by other people's scents though

The reason they find out that the other is an omega is bc while on a mission together (don't ask me the timeframe it could be when their either head diciples or peaklords) they just so happen to run into an aphrodisiac plant that only affects omegas

Sj's mildly illegal suppressants can't hold up against it and sqh's had forgotten to take his suppressants since his heat wasn't due to come for a while longer so he didn't have it high on his list of things to do

Sj obviously is incredibly anxious about someone finding out that he's an omega especially since in the human realm omegas are considered to be weak and are only good for being wives

Sqh is worried about the same exact thing except sj could also hold this against him and make him do more paper work or something,maybe even threaten him(he's not worried about sj taking advantage of him because he knows he's not that type of person)

After like 2 minutes of panicking they realize that both of them are omegas and promise to keep each others identity as an omega secret

The plant isn't a fuck or die plant so they just wait it out together untill its over

After this sqh helps sj get better suppressants and whenever suppressants aren't available they help each other out and maybe kiss a little

Eventually scumplane happens and mbj and yqy both chug vinegar(maybe they can date eachother or sm idfk)

Just imagine that Wang Anshui (ADP lord) and Shen Anwei (QJP lord) are BFFs who hang out all the time. Wang Anshui shares one evening over a jar of wine that his best head disciple prospect has to use musical cultivation, and the reason why he *seems* so weak to others is that he refuses to do it where anyone can see!

Shen Anhwei, naturally, is ready to offer up Shen Jiu on a platter. Does SQH need to learn how to play the Qin? Done. Would the Erhu be a better fit? Also done!

SJ accepts this mission from his Shin: befriend the ADP head disciple and help him with musical cultivation. So SJ goes to ADP looking for SQH to like. Have a conversation.

Except, he can't find him at all! Whenever SJ steps foot on A Ding peak, it's like there's some kind of secret alarm alerting SQH to his presence (there is!). SJ is pretty mad about this, but is now ever more determined that he WILL accomplish his (shizun's) goal! Shang Shied will learn to play if it kills both of them!

It takes a minor side quest to the Qing Jing library and sweet talking one of his shojis, who teaches SJ exactly how to make a notice-me-not talisman.

He practices and practices until he can write them in his sleep. And then he goes to track down his little rat of a shidi.

Shen Jiu discovers SQH, apparently meditating on a small outcropping underneath on of A Ding's cliffs. There's a waterfall right there, and both the sound and the abundant spiritual energy mask SQH's presence.

Making sure he is undetectable, SJ starts to approach SQH. But the other boy starts *singing*. And SJ- stops in his tracks, more than little stunned. SQH's voice is a smooth tenor, and his range is at least three octaves. The song he's singing is utterly incomprehensible, but the sound of his voice is not.

This is a song about longing, about seeking a connection and feeling like nobody in the world sees you. As SQH sings, SJ understands, that THIS is how the other boy cultivates! He doesn't *need* to learn an instrument. He IS the instrument!

SJ can't bring himself to turn away from what is clearly meant to be a private performance. He feels the waves of qi building up all around SQH, lifting his hair with tiny golden flecks of energy. As he sings, the power grows, and grows, as Shang Qinghua's voice changes, becoming completely confident. The tone fills out, so that the sound vibrates all the bones in Shen Jiu's body.

The tone is so clear and crisp and *FULL* it makes SJ want to raise his voice and join the song, though he doesn't speak that language and doesn't know the words. Like this, Shang Qinghua is STUNNING.

Like this, he's POWERFUL.

And Shen Jiu's stomach flutters.

He takes an involuntary step backwards, alarmed by his own visceral reaction. He doesn't... he's not the kind of person that *wants*...

Shang Qinghua's song comes to an end, and he opens his eyes. By then, Shen Jiu is already high in the air, fleeing on his sword.
