Vegetable Soup Review

This is what’s happening to animation. I could recall the original “I remembered” clip for decades after I saw it as a child. The rich, distinct voice of the little girl repeating the mantra of her mother’s grocery list while skipping down the street. I remember loving how the mother was drawn as a kid. When the thought balloon of the mother’s head popped up I strove to draw lips as wonderfully shaped and eyelashes as magically curly. The above clip was animated by Jim Simon, who did several gorgeous little shorts for Sesame Street and the Electric company.

Now, you get THIS: 100% sanitized. This mother and daughter are the most generic models ever. I honestly thought this was done by the people who designed Bitstrips. Who knows? It may be. The voices are completely unmemorable. The characters barely move: the almost float lazily through their movements.  Who animated the below clip? The answer? It doesn’t matter. It’s a mass-manufactured piece of junk that could’ve been created by anyone.
