he started erra when he was 17, was in a deathcore band before with alex (erra drummer) called "by blood and iron" (alex has been the only drummer he's played with since 2006 I think)

he used to be very elitist about music and used to post on myspace defending or trashing on bands but only on his personal page. before he got into metalcore he used to be one of those who said "they only scream because they don't know how to sing"

his facebook account was originally made by alex. alex also made him a twitter that he never used (alex posted some very sus things to it though, the bio was "cute boyz text me pic4pic" or something along those lines) which has since been deleted.

he's a casual gamer boy and loves games like elden ring and dark souls

he had an ego trip when erra started taking off in 2014 and kicked alan out of the band because of it (he also got a straight perm and a haircut and I think that says something)

the songs car crash (ghost atlas) and continuum (erra) are about his gf who died in a car crash

he's an honorary member of invent animate (he produced their first album and they've been besties and toured together a bunch since)

he moved to nashville in 2018 with his gf at the time and her cat and lived there until he moved to la mid-2020

before he used a computer he just used to imagine the songs all put together before recording in the studio

he never saw star wars until 2021 and didn't expect to like it as much as he does - he's not a "fandom" guy but he understands why people are

he's always been a book lover and used to consider being an english teacher as the "normal job" he'd have if he wasn't a musician. that being said he's been dead set on a music career since he started being in bands and now sees himself definitely having done something in music even if the band didn't work out

he would like to write books one day

he likes arthouse films and those and the books he likes influence his lyricism

he does a fake exaggerated southern accent a lot and the guys in the acacia strain thought he was a trumpie because a joke he made when he was on tour with them didn't land right

he has adhd (I think most, if not all, of the current band lineup do)

he's completely self taught in guitar, singing and songwriting and doesn't know much theory

he's the second tallest after clint and was the tallest before clint joined

he skateboards and can skate while playing guitar

he wrote every single erra song between 2014 and 2024, wrote 60% of them before and now. he's also technically and unofficially erra's producer - every erra song pre-braunstein is self produced

he's a recovering control freak especially in regards to his music - it's why he's had conflict with alan and jt in the past.

clint writing complete songs now is really significant to where erra are because jesse used to be so particular about writing for erra and shows how married they are

jesse's been obsessed with clint since he joined the band as touring guitarist in 2022

jesse considers clint and conor to be the most conventionally attractive members of the band

jesse headhunted all the current members of the band personally

he adopted two cats in 2024 (patch and prince), and got gifted his kitten (milo) after he moved back to alabama at the end of last year

his gf is a guitarist (currently on tour with poppy) and they've been together since 2023. she's also cooler than him (she's played coachella and lollapalooza and she's the guitarist on the top gun maverick soundtrack and plays in the game awards orchestra every year. plus she was in louis tomlinson's girl band that never took off)

he has a lot of tattoos and still wants more. the most painful one was the inside of his bellybutton - he has a tiger on his stomach - and he brainstorms tattoo ideas on pinterest. he also used to be against having visible tattoos but has since backtracked when getting his hands done

he thinks hair metal sucks ass

he's been a full time musician since quitting his job at toys r us around 2013, one of the reasons he started ghost atlas was so he'd have a full second stream of income

his favourite bands are deftones and the national (steph carpenter from deftones likes erra btw)

he started going crazy when performing onstage after his breakup in 2019 when he re-evaluated his life and realised that erra was the only thing he had so he wanted to have fun and care less about making the occasional mistake

he's generally dizzy and in pain on stage because of how much he moves

his comfort show is the great british bake off

he wrote and recorded all the guitar on what do you want from me? by bad omens and jolly actually plays it wrong live

he used to have this grey beanie he'd wear everywhere that he lost and he was really upset over that

he describes himself as a minimalist and prefers convenience over anything else

he's been an ibanez guitarist for like 15 years and has been endorsed by them since 2014 but still doesn't have a signature model

he's not a gear guy and is mostly useless in regards to the band's touring setup. he said if he didn't know how to write songs he'd have been kicked out the band a long time ago

Of course he head hunted the most perfect and handsome dudes for his band, good for him 😌 It is his duty as frontman to have sex with all of them after all, might as well make sure they're to his taste 🤭

It's kind of insane to me that he's completely self taught and just hallucinated the songs in his head for the longest time. No computer, not a tech guy, just makes it up as he goes! These are intricate piece of music, there's a lot going on musically and lyrically! Guess he's just that good and meant to do music, but again, weird little neurospicy bug vibes.
