The album opens up with “It Starts With Me” a slow building track filled with gang vocals and a sample from one of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s lectures. The album continues into the second track “What Choice Did You Give Us?”, almost a part two of “It Starts With Me”. Its a powerful song calling for change and immediate action from the masses. With “Nobody”, the first track premiered from the album, Stick To Your Guns shows that they can create a melodic and catchy hardcore song and keep the power. The song discusses the social challenges the youth of today face and what has lead most of us to this style of music.

Disobedient is also filled with guest spots from notable vocalists in the hardcore community like Toby Morse (H2O), Walter Delgado (Rotting Out), Scott Vogel (Terror), and even Josh Balz (Motionless In White) helped out with gang vocals. Toby Morse comes in on “RMA (Revolutionary Mental Attitude)” which is only a minute and a half long but is easily one of the wildest songs on the album. With raging guitars and blunt lyrics from Barnett screaming “Fuck the message, fuck Its good intentions, a new attitude for a new generation, you can’t fight back if you won’t stand up. Being positive is no longer enough” the entire song is brutally crushing and I can only hope that they play it live. “Nothing You Can Do To Me” is one of the faster songs on the album and it really shows off Jesse Barnett’s clean vocal style contrasting it with his screaming. Walter’s part of the song kicks in with a prominent bass intro before blowing back up with his almost maniacal screaming and laughing. The band slows down the pace with “To Whom It May Concern” before picking it up again with “The Crown” which has the most clean vocals on the album by far. Despite the clean vocals the song hits hard and is one of the more notable songs on the album because of it.

The heaviest song on the album, “I Choose No One” features samples from Charlie Chaplin’s famous speech in the 1940 film The Great Dictatorfollowed by a build up and explosion by the band screaming “I choose nothing, I choose no one, I’d rather lose than ever be like you”. The song finishes out with a devastating breakdown with Scott Vogel of Terror taking over the mic. Stick To Your Guns created a solid album that was well worth the three year wait. They kept their own style, but the progression and growth as a band is apparent. The guest vocal spots were great, the messages were powerful and with producer John Feldmann guiding them this album was destined to be amazing. You’re only hurting yourself by ignoring this album.
