Visit to Sasaran Sky Mirror Part 3
Family outing at Sasaran Beach Sky Mirror (沙沙兰天空之镜 / shāshā lán tiānkōng zhī jìng) Part 3
On the invitation of the Fam family we joined them for a half-day visit and adventure to Sasaran Beach Sky Mirror on Mon 2018/09/10.
Sasaran Beach is a mysterious sandbank that is only accessible to tourists twice a month, i.e. during the 4 days before and after the new moon and full moon periods. The sandbank is located 1.74 nautical miles off the coast of the fishing village of Jeram, Selangor, in the middle of the Straits of Malacca Sea. Most of the time Sasaran Beach is submerged under the sea and it is when the tide is ideal that this sandbank emerges from the sea. That is why Sasaran Beach is such a mystery and is uncharted in the world map. You can't find "Sasaran Beach" or "Sky Mirror" in Google Map.
To reach Sasaran Beach, you have to take a 30 minute ride by speedboat across the open sea from a jetty in the fishing village. Sasaran Beach is better known as “Mirror in the Sky “as the shallow waters of this “Secret Island” reflects the sky in all its going, thus creating many unique photography and selfie opportunities for all. The Island is also the habitat for marine agriculture. The most common are the sea and baby clam scattered abundantly in the sand.
Part 3
On the way to Sasaran Beach after boarding the speedboat at the jetty in Jeram fishing village. Along the way we passed by an abandoned resort development in Pulau Angsa (天鹅岛) where there is an operating Lighthouse built by the Dutch long ago. The boat captain also slowed down his boat to allow the visitors to watch cranes, eagles and monkeys in the mangrove swamps, and fishermen earning their livelihood. Although this area is also a dolphin habitat we were lot lucky enough to spot any of these animals.
