You
You sat the last box down in your living room with a grunt. Youâd been lugging boxes into your new apartment all day, and you were exhausted. You let your tired body fall back onto the couch, sinking into the soft cushions.Â
You looked around the room filled with cardboard and the few pieces of furniture you had. You could feel the tears threatening to fill your eyes, and bit your lip to stop them. You pulled out your phone, tapping the name of the only person you could think to call at that moment.Â
âHi, baby, how are you doing?â your mom answered on the second ring.
You sighed. âIâve been better,â you replied, rubbing a hand down your face.
âThis really is for the best, you know?â she said, and you could almost picture the sympathetic look sheâd have on her face.Â
âIs it? Cause right now it feels justâŚhorrible.â
âYes, Y/N, it is. He changed, and you are not the only one who noticed.â
You sighed again. âThanks, Momma. I better get unpacking. Love you.â
âLove you too, Bug. Pour yourself a glass of wine and just try to relax.â
You smiled as you hung up. Your mom truly was your best friend. Youâd called her right after you broke up with Jensen and sheâd talked you through it the best she could from nearly a thousand miles away.Â
After youâd moved to Austin to be with Jensen, you saw your mom a lot less than youâd liked. It was tempting to move back home after the breakup, but you had a job that you really loved, and you just couldnât bring yourself to leave it.Â
You had friends nearby, too. The only problem was that Jensen was the one who introduced you to them, which made you feel a little uncomfortable. Gen had already reached out to you. Sheâd left a message wanting to get together to hang out. You hadnât responded yet. You just werenât sure if you could handle the inevitable conversation sheâd want to have about the breakup.
You pulled out your corkscrew and a wine glass from your box labeled âkitchenâ and opened the bottle of white wine youâd gotten on your quick grocery trip earlier in the day. As you took your first sip, you sat down again and let your mind wander to the beginnings of your relationship with Jensen.Â
Two Years Earlier - You
It had been by chance that youâd met the green-eyed actor at a coffee shop in your small town of Salida, Colorado. Heâd been on his way home from a fan convention in Denver and had taken a wrong turn. Heâd wanted to make the long drive alone to clear his head, and youâd learn later how stubborn he was about using the GPS on his phone.Â
Heâd come into the coffee shop you frequented to get some caffeine and directions. Youâd recognized him, of course, since you were a fan of Supernatural. Youâd always kept up with the show, but you werenât a big enough fan to have gone to the convention.Â
âExcuse me, miss,â you heard, looking up from your laptop in surprise. Though youâd noticed him enter the shop immediately, youâd never expected him to talk to you.Â
âIâm on my way back to Texas, and I think Iâm a little lost. I donât have any service on my phone, but Iâm using the Wi-Fi here to look at Google Maps.â
You nodded, listening to his explanation while still wondering why he was talking to you of all people.Â
âCan you take a look and tell me if this is a good route back to I-25?â he asked, giving you a dazzling smile. You returned it, and took his phone.Â
âSure,â you said, looking at the route his phone was going to take him. It looked fine, which only added to your confusion at the question he was asking you. Surely the app could tell Jensen what the fastest or easiest route was.
âThat is a good option,â you said, handing him his phone back. âAnd when you go through Trinidad, thereâs a great little barbecue place off Main Street you should check out. Awesome pulled pork and even better cheese fries.â
He nodded, his eyes surprised. âThanksââ he paused, stretching out his hand in an invitation to shake yours.
âY/N,â you responded, placing your hand in his calloused one.
âY/N,â he repeated. âIâm Jensen.âÂ
âI know,â you said with a smirk. He let out a chuckle and stood there for another moment, as if deciding something.Â
âWould it be weird if I asked to buy you a cup of coffee?â he asked finally.
âHmm, I have coffee,â you replied, glancing at the paper cup in front of you. He seemed to deflate a little, and you quickly continued. âBut I would love a scone.â
He smiled again, giving you a wink as he headed to the counter. After he bought your scone and his own coffee, he returned to your table where he asked if he could join you.
You made small talk for a little bit. You told him you liked his show; he asked you about your life in Salida; you joked easily with each other. Before you knew it, a couple of hours had gone by.Â
âWell, I really should get going. I have a long drive ahead of me,â Jensen said, leaning back in his chair.Â
âYeah, good idea,â you responded. You had really enjoyed your talk with him, even if it was just a random moment in your life and you never saw him again.
âDo you think I could see you again?â he asked, looking a little nervous. It was very cute, especially since he was a famous actor.Â
âMight be a little tough, what with living a thousand miles apart,â you said with a smirk. You saw his shoulders sink a little. âHow about I give you my number. If you ever want to talk, Iâll answer.â
âHmm,â he said, nodding. âItâs not ideal, but Iâll take what I can get, sweetheart.âÂ
You smiled coyly and put your number in his phone. âIt was great to meet you, Jensen. I hope we meet again.â
âOh, I think we will, Y/N,â he said confidently. You shook your head with a smile as he backed away from the table and out the door.Â
I will never hear from him again, you thought as you watched him get into his car that was parked on the street. Little did you know, one day later he would prove you wrong.

âWait, hold that door!â The yell slipped from you as you chased the crowd of people down the hallway. There was just enough room for you to shove yourself into the elevator and youâd be damned if you missed it. Sure, waiting for the next elevator would take less than five minutes, and though you technically werenât late, you were going to be in trouble. Alice had a strict âfifteen minutes beforeâ arrival time for meetings, and according to your watch, she would most definitely rip you a new one later.Â
A huff of relief escaped you as you slipped into the cramped elevator. With a quick check that the button had been pressed for your floor, you turned your attention back to the portfolio in your hands.Â
This was a big project, so one last check to make sure you had everything wouldnât hurt. This meeting needed to go perfect, or else youâd be hearing about that too.Â
The elevator stopped at a few floors, the mass of people exiting, and finally allowing you a little breathing room as you stood still facing the doors. The next floor was your exit.Â
A long drawn out screech and subsequent deep shudder of the elevator cart had you bracing yourself from toppling over. This was so not happening right now.Â
âMotherfucker.â You growled. A deep chuckle had you whipping your head around, not realizing anyone else remained with you.Â
âYou think this is funny?â The words came out in a hiss as you eyed the tall stranger behind you. His height brought him still above you in heels, a feat which not many could accomplish at your height. He was slender yet still built, the dark slacks and button down clinging to him in all the right places. A dark pair of aviators hung on his nose.Â
âNo maâam.â The man chuckled with a slight southern drawl as he brushed his knuckles across his rusty colored beard. Hearing a southern accent in Texas was nothing new to you, but something about it sent a chill up your spine.Â
âThen donât laugh.â You turned back towards the panel and hit the emergency button. Nothing happened so you tried again. Granted you werenât exactly sure what was supposed to happen, so all you could do was hope that it notified somebody.Â
You turned back to the man, who had his phone held above his head like he was searching for a signal. Fear gripped you as you pulled out your own, only to find an out of range warning in the upper corner. A small whine escaped you as you stomped your foot like a child.Â
âNothing?â The man had already returned his phone to his pocket.Â
âWhat the hell do you think?â The man shrugged still clearly amused with your frustration. âAnd take those damn sunglasses off, only douchebags wear sunglasses inside.â
âYou got me.â The man held up his hands in surrender before pulling the dark specs from his face. Your heart leapt into your throat as you took in the pair of deep emerald eyes now staring back at you.Â
âOh my god.â The words tumbled quickly from your lips before you stop them. âShit sorry, that wasnât the most dignified responseâŚâ you trailed off. Did you just fucking quote Dean Winchester to Jensen Ackles? How had you not even realized it was him? Your mind really was focused right now.Â
âNo youâre totally right. Dean knows what heâs talking about, but sometimes I like to try and stay under the radar.â Jensen placed the glasses on top of his head as you just stared at him, completely lost for words. There was shakiness in your limbs as you attempted to control your heart rate.Â
Supernatural had been your lifeline since the show started. The family you had made and the home you found in them being the one constant in your life through all the shit being thrown at you. And now here you were, in Jensen Ackles personal space, trapped for god only knows how long.Â
âIâm gonna be honest I donât even know what to say. Iâm such a huge fan, Iâve seen just about everything youâve ever done.â You extended a hand and offered your name to him.Â
âThank you so much.â Jensen shook you hand and stepped back to lean against the wall. âSo tell me, what has you a wound so tight?âÂ
âWhat?â The question caught you off guard as you watched the man lazily swipe his tongue over his lips. âOh yeah, Iâm so late for a meeting with the board of the hospital for their new pediatric wing. My boss is gonna kill me for missing this meeting. I guess some big donor for the playroom portion is gonna be there and she has been freaking about it all month.â You had almost forgotten about it when Jensen had taken off his sunglasses, mesmerized by the hottest man youâd ever seen.Â
âYeah?â Jensenâs one eyebrow lifted as he watched you. âYou work for the hospital then?â Jensen slid his hands into the front pocket of his slacks.Â
âNo, my firm is designing the whole thing. I was finally given a big project, making headway with the partners, and now Iâm so fired.â The realization hit you as you dropped your things to the ground, sliding down the wall with them. Your ass hit the ground in a hard thump, but you didnât even feel it.Â
âWell, if it makes you feel any better, Iâm missing the meeting too.â Jensen walked over to where you were and crouched down in front of you. Your brows crinkled in confusion before you understood his meaning.Â
âYouâre the donor?âÂ
âWell technically my wife and I are, but she couldnât make this meeting. I promised to show her everything though.â Jensen smirked as he moved to sit next to you, his back against the wall, your shoulders almost touching.Â
âHow did I not know this? I feel like I should have known this.â You turned to him, the fear of possibly losing your job had tears brimming in the corners of your eyes.Â
âDanneel and I try not flaunt around our money. We give back where we can and donât like to make a big deal out of it.â Jensen had his hands in his lap as he spoke, not really looking up at you. âThe twins were born here, and while everything turned out just fine, we know that it isnât always the case, especially for multiple births. This hospital does great work and we want to continue to see it do that work.â
âGod I hate how perfect you guys are.â Jensen chuckled at your admission, before denying it. âNo really, you two are like the most down to earth celebrities like ever. Youâre both hot and so talented like how the hell did you ever stay so humble? Couldnât you be assholes to kinda balance out the universe? Itâs not fair to us lesser humans.â You laughed.Â
âLesser humans?â He cocked his head at you.Â
âYeah, those of us that do not look like Greek gods.â Jensen let out a full bodied laugh at that, and you couldnât help but join in, his smile contagious.Â
The elevator shuttered again then, causing you both to jump back to reality. The doors slid open erratically, leaving you facing mostly dark concrete wall. Only a sliver about a foot tall at the top of the elevator revealed the floor of the level above you.Â
Jensen was on his feet in a flash, offering you a hand to help you up.Â
âHello?â He called out. Suddenly you were face to face with a couple of firefighters peering down at you. You recognized both faces instantly, the weight in your chest lifting.Â
âBabe, you okay in there?â Your husband called down to you.Â
âUh, physically yeah, emotionally not so much. Iâm so gonna be fired after this.â You mused, your husband flashing you back an amused smirk.Â
Jensen spun around to face you, obviously thrown off by the interaction.Â
âOh sorry, honey, this is Jensen Ackles, Jensen this is my husband David.â You introduced the two.Â
âNo way! This is like your every dream come true.â Davidâs best friend Mark was still on his knees, watching everything going down.Â
âYeah, listen babe itâs gonna be a while until we can get you out of there. I know heâs on your exception list so just use protection okay.â Blood rushed to your face as you gasped. Sure, you and your husband enjoyed messing with each other, but this was unexpected.Â
âIâm so gonna kill you when I get out of here.â You growled at David as he and his best friend laughed.Â
âTake this while we work on getting you crazy kids outta there.â Mark joined in as he handed down some bottles of water and protein bars. Jensen muttered a thanks before the doors slid back into place. sending you and Jensen alone again.Â
âException list?â Jensen twisted the lid off his water and took a sip. Oh yeah, David was so paying for this.Â
âOh, you heard that?â Jensen nodded and signaled for you to continue. âWell you know, couples make a list of like, a few exceptions to the rule that if the opportunity aroseâŚâ you tried to choose the words carefully. âYou are allowed to seize said opportunity.â You made a face as you stumbled over the words.Â
âAnd Iâm on your list?â This man was having too much fun with your apparent uncomfortability.Â
âMaybe.â You lied. âYes. Okay, yes.â You relented as the man laughed at you again. âOh you are just having the time of your life in here arenât you? Always laughing at my expense.â
âWho else?âÂ
âWhat?â The questions caught you off guard.Â
âWho else is on that list of yours?â Jensen pushed.Â
âBriana Buckmaster.â You donât take your eyes off Jensen as you talk your own drink of water, his jaw slightly slack.Â
âCanât say I disagree with your choices. Iâm honored to be up there with the likes of Briana.â
âYou should be.âÂ
Jensen moves past you and slid back down against the wall in his previous spot. He reached next him and picked up your portfolio, opening it up on his lap.Â
âSo, we might be here a while. Why donât you show me what you got?â He wiggles his eyebrows up at you, the double meaning not lost on you.Â
âAlright Ackles, but Iâm not sure you can handle what Iâve got.âÂ
****
âYouâve seen every episode how many times?â Jensen gaped at you. It had been almost two hours since the elevator had stopped in between floors, and about thirty minutes since the two of you put aside your design for the pediatric playroom. You had begun talking about more personal things, including his family. He even showed you this video he had of the twins being adorable and funny. To say it was surreal would be an understatement.Â
âAt least six times, some of the older ones more.â You reiterated.Â
âDo you do anything else?â You laughed at that.Â
âI mean no, not really. This show helped me through some really tough times. I even met my husband at a convention. I owe just about everything to you, and Jared. I donât think if I had met David when I did and all you guys do for your fans, that I would have been able to make it through.â You admitted.Â
âWell Iâm so glad that you are still here. Otherwise I would be stuck in this elevator by myself, or worse, with some uppity interior design partner.â Jensen teased your hate for your boss. âAnd Iâm sure your husband is glad you are still here. I mean I only met him for a minute or two, but you guys seem genuine.â
âHeâs my real life Dean Winchester. Heâs a hero and the most loving man I could ever hope for.â You agreed. âIt just sucks that I have to kill him for embarrassing me.âÂ
âAh, thereâs the girl Iâve come to know.â Jensen mused as you returned to your usual joking self.Â
The weight dropped from your stomach as the elevator came back to life and dropped a floor before rising back up to you original destination.Â
Jensen and yourself gathered your things and stood, more than ready to be out of the small space.Â
Though, you had to admit, you were sad. You werenât lying when you said that Supernatural had helped you a lot. And spending two uninterrupted hours with the shows star had been like a dream. It was not one you were ready to wake up from.Â
âAh David, your wife seems a little too happy after spending two hours stuck in an elevator.â Mark teases David as you and Jensen exited the elevator. You threw him the bird before playfully punching Davidâs shoulder.Â
âHowâd it go in there?â David smirked at you.Â
âOh, we had fun, right?â Jensen came up behind you then, his smack on your ass a little harder than you were expecting. But it got the reaction from your husband you had hoped when the two of you had planned it. His jaw dropped a little in disbelief as Jensen eyed you up and down, biting his lip.Â
âGotcha.â You pinched Davidâs chin between your fingers and planted one on him, quick but needy.Â
âThank god, I did not want to have to kick Dean Winchesterâs ass.â David shook Jensen hand.Â
âLike you could.â You mocked.Â
âThere he is!â A deep voice had you all turning towards a man in an expensive suit coming towards you all, flanked by your boss Alice. âMr Ackles I am so very sorry for the inconvenience. Truly, this has never happened before.â
âAh no problem Carl. I uh, actually had a very interesting partner to go through it all with and she made sure that I was still productive in my absence.â Jensen shook the man's hand before gesturing to you. âShe actually showed me her ideas for the playroom, and I have to say, Iâm absolutely thrilled so see them come to life. I would love to move forward with everything.âÂ
âIs that so?â Alive spoke up, the fire burning in her glare.Â
âYes, actually. And I know my wife will be just as equally excited.â He affirmed.Â
âWell then, all is done. Join me in my office to sign the paperwork?â Carl suggested to Jensen who nodded and followed after.Â
Once he was out of earshot, Alice began her hushed tirade.Â
âWhat were you thinking? I canât believe that not only do you not show up to this meeting, but you show the client without my approval. You are so done. You will never work in this town after this. I canât believe the audacity.â She snarled, her hands gesturing wildly.Â
âThe audacity? Alice, he asked me to see them. He opened my portfolio all on his own. Besides, I thought you trusted me with this? I got the job didnât I?â You stepped away from your husband as your boss tore into you like never before.Â
âTrust me when I say it will be your lastâŚâÂ
âMhmm.â Jensen cleared his throat as he stepped behind Alice, effectively cutting her off.Â
âActually, I like the plans so much, I was thinking of hiring her on as the designer for the new bed and breakfast my wife and I just acquired. What do you say?â Jensen turned from Alice to you.Â
âMe?â You were dumbfounded. Honestly you thought Jensen only agreed because the two of you had spent that time together and it would have been awkward otherwise.Â
âYes, just you.âÂ
âUh hell yes!â You gushed as you latched your arms around his neck. Jensen laughed as he hugged you back.Â
âWell then, I will call you sweetheart. David, hold onto that one.â Jensen returned the glasses to his face as he disappeared behind the door to the staircase.Â
âShit,â David whispered as he watched where Jensen had disappeared. âI think I love him.âÂ
Story Summary: Following adventures of three best friends on different adventures.
Authorâs note: I came up with this crazy idea and IÂ tagged @giftofdreams along with it. Totally crazy but totally worth it! I hope you like it. This story is in different parts. comments and feedback are welcome!
It was a beautiful Sunday morning in San Diego, the sun was shining bright and the sky was clear blue. Liliana and Alexandra were up early making their way since today was the day they were going to surprise each of their brothers. They were getting ready as they were heading to the huge convention centre in California, to meet up with their other friend Y/N.
âOh, hey Lil! I totally forgot to mention.â Alex gave Lily a friendly slap on her sunburned shoulder causing Lily to groan as she reached to rub her shoulder. âSorry but last night I was thinking about how we could catch their surprised faces. And I thought that we could take turns with our phones and then we can send it to each other. Letâs say we snap a couple of pictures and we can see which one looks the funniest. Isnât that a wonderful idea?â Alex asked, clapping her hands excitedly.
Lily nodded. âThat is an awesome idea, I canât wait to see their faces.â She put her sunglasses back on after she cleaned them.
âI never asked you, but how did you know their schedules?â Alex questioned her best friend and Lily wiggled her eyebrows, sticking out her tongue.
âYou want to know how I did that, huh?â
âYeah tell me,â Alex giggled.
Lily kept herself silent for a couple of minutes as a payback for the slap on her sunburned shoulder. Alex gave her a sideways glance through her sunglasses. âI told you I was sorry!â Alex stopped Lily, placing a kiss on her cheek.
âIs this better? I wanted to kiss your shoulder, but your shoulder looks painful.â Alex scrunched her nose at the redness.
Lily shakes her head, chuckling at the silly behaviour of her friend. âAlright, alright, stop your plea. I checked the website and I saw what he was doing that day. I made it look like I wanted to come home to see the family. My brother told me about his job here in San Diego. Without being suspicious I asked him what he was going to do and youâll never guess what he asked.â Lily smirked.
Alex cocked her head to the side, raising her eyebrows. âWhat? He asked you to come to visit?â Alex guessed. Lilyâs mouth fell open.
âYes, thatâs exactly what he asked. Did I tell you that already?â Alex shakes her head, her long brown hair fell from her shoulders.
âNo, I'm just really good at guessing.â She smirked. Lily started to laugh.
âYou should make it your profession.â Alexâs wiggled her eyebrows. âMaybe I will.â
They rounded the corner, arms linked together, but then they both stopped. They had arrived at the square in front of the Convention centre. It was buzzing with people. Policemen directing them towards the centre safely. Lily and Alex were gaping at the huge amount of people making their way to the entrance. They thought it was a better idea to not go early in the morning but it was still crowded while the doors opened three hours ago.
Alex turned to Lily. âWow! It still amazes me how crowded it can be while I lived in New York most of my childhood.â
Lily nodded, squealing. âLetâs go. Y/N is waiting for us by the entrance. I canât wait to see the look on my brothers face.â
They walked with the crowd to the entrance of their first Comic-Con. Alex kept close to Lily when she noticed people dressed in creepy costumes, passing her. Lily turned her head to Alex. âWhatâs going on?â She asked. Â
Alex tried casually to shrug it off but then the Joker from Batman, approached them, Â Alexâs eyes widened and she stepped quickly out of the way, making Lily laugh.
âAlex! You never told me you were afraid of people dressed up as their favourite fictional character!â Lily exclaimed, trying to stop laughing but it was really funny seeing Alexâs pale face when the Joker stopped in front of them.
âGo on, find Batman.â Lily waved the Joker away. It shrugged its shoulders and walked on. Alex shuddered, turning to Lily. Sheâs always been scared of the creepy villains with their scary appearances and costumes. Halloween has never been her favourite celebration. Also having an older brother who teased her, showing up with the scream masks on, scaring her didnât help to overcome that fear. Lily gave her a look.
âYou know that there will be more of that kind of figures walking around, some crazier and more real looking than the one who scared you.â Alex nodded.
âI know, I know. Itâs never been easy, I cried so hard because my mum sent me out with my brother to go trick and treating, nightmares is all that I got around Halloween. Iâm okay now.â Alex cleared her throat. Lily chuckled.
âLILY! ALEX!â A familiar voice was shouting their names, both the girls grinned at the sight of their other best friend, Y/N. She ran up to them arms wide and she immediately embraced them both in a huge hug. The girls laughed at the crazy behaviour. Y/N couldnât tag along on the road trip from the start so they decided to meet her here in San Diego and then she would come with them as the trip continued. Y/N pulled out of their embrace, grinning brightly.
âWow! Look at you, both such a lovely colour on you already. Here I am with my pale arms and legs.â Y/N chuckled.
âOh! Come on! Remember last summer, you were like this as well and only two days in the sun and you had a tan, making me jealous!â Lily exclaimed, with a roll of her eyes. Alex smiled, she put her sunglasses away nodding in agreement.
âOkay, fine! This summer, I'll tan only once.â Y/N joked, making the girls laugh at her sarcasm. âCome on! Letâs find those hot brothers of yours!â Lily and Alex gave Y/N a look. âWhat about your hot brother?â Lily asked. Y/N cringed. They all started laughing.
They walked in, arms linked together keeping an eye out for both their brothers; Sebastian Stan, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

Present - Jensen
It had been two weeks since heâd last talked to you. Two weeks since youâd walked out the door, leaving Jensen confused and heartbroken. Two weeks since youâd told him you were going, and Jensen let you leave.
He felt the anxiety bubbling up, threatening to overtake his senses. He was on his way back from a party for the season wrap of The Boys.
Going to parties with other people in the industry was just part of his job. He had to do it frequently, but it didnât change the panic he felt after the events about how heâd come off or what sort of impressions heâd made.Â
You used to help him with that.
Not only did he know he made a better impression on strangers with you by his side, but you were the only one who could calm him down after a party. You knew exactly what to say and brought him out of his mind. He thought back to one of the first parties heâd brought you to.
Jensen slid into the car that had been waiting to pick you up. As soon as he settled and the car was moving, he let out a deep sigh, placing his head in his hands.Â
âJay.â
He didnât move. He could feel his heartbeat in his throat, and his breathing was becoming a little shallow.Â
âJay, look at me,â you said. Youâd placed a hand on his thigh from your seat next to him. He finally lifted his head, glad he had when he saw the soft smile gracing your face.Â
âWhatâs going on?â You asked, a small crinkle forming between your brows. âIt went great,â you said, moving your hand to interlace your fingers with his.
âI justâI feel like no one liked me. My jokes fell flat, I was awkwardâthe only time things felt good was when I was talking to you or Jared.â He stared down at your interlocked hands.
âThatâs not true, Jens. Everyone there loved you.â
âHow do you know?â He asked incredulously.
âBecause I do,â you said with a pointed look. âYouâre hard on yourself. You focus on your flaws. But when youâre on the outside,â you paused, placing a gentle finger under his chin to lift it, causing him to look at you, âitâs obvious. You are amazing, and Iâm not the only one who thinks so.â
Jensen smiled and leaned into your hand that had slipped to his cheek. His fears faded, and he leaned toward you, capturing your lips in a soft kiss. You gave a small, contented sigh, and Jensen melted even more.Â
He let the memory of your words echo in his head. It was in no way the same as having you with him. But he tried to remember that he was critical of himself, and that he had probably been fine at the party. After all, he was a bigger name now. People stared when he walked inâmoved to the side to let him through as he approached his fellow actors.Â
He chuckled dryly to himself. He could almost see you rolling your eyes at the awed expressions of the partygoers. Youâd never bought into acting like celebrities were royalty. It was one of the things that had attracted him to you in the first place.Â
He sucked in a sharp breath as realization hit him.
It was one of the things that drove you away, too.Â
You - Now
âIâm sorry, Gen,â you said into your phone. You really were sorry. You wanted nothing more than to see your closest girlfriend. Hell, you even wanted to see Jared. In the time you and Jensen had dated you had gotten close to the entire Padalecki family.Â
âItâs not like weâre taking sides, Y/N. We miss you,â she said with a sigh.Â
âItâs not about that,â you replied as you paced your apartment. âItâs justâŚheâs your family, Gen. Heâs always going to be in your lives. And I just canâtââ You stopped, taking a deep breath. âI just canât be around him right now.â
âI get it, Y/N/N, I do. Letâs plan a date for just you and me, though, okay? And soon. I need my best friend.â
You felt guilty for not being around more and there for Gen. But you remembered what it was like when you were with Jensen. The four of you did so much together: dinners, long weekends at the lakeâŚand just because you and Jensen werenât together anymore didnât mean those events stopped. It just meant you couldnât bring yourself to be a part of them knowing he would be there.
Youâd promised to get together with her the following week before your call ended. You laid down on your bed, and exhausted from a long day. You really did love your job running a small boutique in downtown Austin, even if it was tiring. Jensen had introduced you to the owner at a party before youâd moved to Austin and started living with him. He knew youâd loved all things both vintage and handmade, and figured you would hit it off with Kendra.Â
Kendra had wanted to take more time to travel, and thankfully had really liked you. So she allowed you to run the day-to-day of the store, and you loved it.Â
You decided to scroll through social media before going to sleep. Of course the first thing to pop up on your feed was a picture of Jensen.Â
Pain stabbed at you when you saw his face. He looked handsome as ever, though you noticed heâd continued growing his hair out. You had always liked it a little shorter, like how he kept it for Supernatural.Â
Guess it doesnât matter what I think now, anyway.Â
The headline of the article under the picture was something about Jensen and some pro golfer heâd spent time on the course with. You rolled your eyes.Â
One of his new âidols,â Iâm sure.Â
Try as you might to not dwell on it, you couldnât help but be annoyed. Jensen never used to care about big names or other celebrities. Youâd missed that attitude toward the end of your relationship. It felt like he was always schmoozing someone at every event he dragged you to.Â
You locked your phone and put it face down, sighing.Â
It was so strange to feel the way you did. You were so angry with Jensen. And while you were pissed, it didnât mean you didnât miss him. It was the main reason you couldnât talk to him. Youâd just want to get back together with him.Â
You couldnât, though. Heâd changed too much. He wasnât the same man youâd fallen for.Â
You cried as you fell asleep. You cried because you missed him. You cried because you knew you shouldnât miss him. You cried for the memory of who Jensen was before.Â
You - Two Years Ago
You felt your phone buzz in your pocket. You were luckily finishing up your shift at the bar and pulled it out, surprised when you saw a number you didnât recognize.Â
Okay, 1000 miles is officially too far.Â
You smiled, surprised to be hearing from the actor already.Â
Y: What makes you say that? Didnât enjoy the views on the drive home?
J: It was beautiful. I was a little distracted, though.Â
You pulled out your keys before responding, having already made the short walk back to your apartment.Â
Y: Oh?
J: Yeah. Had trouble getting a certain pair or Y/E/C eyes out of my head.Â
J: Still canât.Â
You felt yourself blushing. You liked to play it cool with the opposite sexâbe mysterious, even. But you couldnât deny that the man made you feel things.Â
Y: Pretty interesting statement coming from a man who has millions of fans fawning over his eye color.Â
J: Eh, they like the eyes of a character I play. Itâs not like they know me.Â
Y: And you think you know me?
J: I know enough to wish I knew more.Â
Y: And you think the way to do that is through texting?
J: Donât tempt me, sweetheart. Iâll get on a plane right now.Â
You sent him an eye-rolling emoji. While you appreciated the gesture, you wouldnât want him to actually do that. You wouldnât want anyone to spend that kind of money on you, actor or not.Â
Y: How about we play 20 questions before boarding any planes, hot shot.Â
J: Works for me :)
You and Jensen spent the better part of the evening texting back and forth, asking each other questions as silly as what your favorite colors were to as serious as what your childhoods were like.Â
J: You know, all this getting-to-know-you does is make me want to see you again even more.
Y: Well, hot shot, if you can make it happen without spending crazy amounts of money, Iâd be glad to see you again.
J: HmmâŚchallenge accepted.
Y: No one is challenging you!
J: Itâs my own little challenge, sweetheart. ;) goodnight.

Summary: When you started dating Jensen Ackles, things were damn near perfect. You were so compatible, and you fit into his life seamlessly. After Supernatural ended, though, Jensen got a new job. Pretty soon, Jensen also got a new life. And you no longer fit in it.
