where they first met and how

 •  OKAY SO we know that they knew each other in college that's in Flash comics number one everyone knows this. What you might not know is that they apparently shared a school teacher either in high school or before. we know this from the story that we also know Joan always carries a gun in her handbag from. So I like the idea that they met in high school or before and Jay was too shy to talk to her. And they got partnered for class, possibly for the teacher that they were visiting in the aforementioned issue and that's why they were visiting her because she inadvertedly set them up at least as friends before they got together for real

how long their ‘flirting’ phase was before feelings got involved

 •  YEARS. or at least they dancing around liking each other for years before they actually started dating

who fell for who first ( if applicable )

 •  we know this was Jay

where their first date was and what it was like

 •  I think Jay took Joan to a soda fountain and then took her dancing

who asks who out and how ( with a sign? spelled out on a cake? just a simple ‘will you go out with me’? )

 •  we see Jay asked Joan out on panel! He kind of just asks

Who proposes first?

 •  I think it's a case of Joan going "well the war's over now so what are you waiting for?" And Jay goes "well I was waiting for the jeweler to get back to me"

 •  as if Jay could keep a secret about Joan agreeing to go on a date with him

where the proposal happens and how ( kiss cam at a baseball game? on a hillside surrounded by ducks? at a disney park? )

 • I think it's very much so so either on V-E or V-J day. Jay runs home and swoops Joan into his arms and she asks what he's waiting for

 •  I believe Joan is a microbiologist so I think the closest they ever got to pets is microbes in their refrigerator

who’s more dominant

 •  well as my good friend Sara always points out Joan is the one who talks to other people and Jay sits their politely waiting for Joan to finish

where their first kiss was and what it was like

 •  I have yet to find it but I am determined to

if they have any matching couples stuff ( mugs? sweaters? pillowcases? )

 •  I think they have less matching couple stuff than you would think. And what they do have matching was gifts from other people. Or I like this offhands fact that Carter Hall knits And I have this a headcanon that he knit Joan a little winter hat with little wings on it to match Jay's hat one year for her because Joan is of course the fashionista and the hat wearer of all time if you look in the golden age. So I think that's my favorite head cannon on matching couple stuff for them.

how pda are they

 • Are Grammy and grampy PDA... let's consult the DC universe

who holds the umbrella when it rains

 •  Jay has the umbrella open and out as soon as there is one drop of rain

where their usual ‘date spot’ is ( if applicable )

 •  I genuinely don't think they have a usual spot. I think they're both pretty adventurous people. we know that Joan loves going out and doing things. And Jay loves Joan so even though I think Jay would like a little more routine I think he sees their date spot as the moments when he is carrying her and running to wherever Joan wants to go. because for years and years and years that's just theirs. And even when Jay's connection to the speed force is bigger they still have that speedster and lightning rod connection that makes running together and with Joan and Jay's arm kind of their spot

who’s more protective

 •  hey remember that time Bart had to stop Jay from killing someone because he thought Joan got hurt

how long it is before they sleep together ( can be as in ‘had sex’ or as in ‘shared a bed’ )

 •  let's just say I don't think it was on their wedding night 😆 I think it was probably in the brief period where they were living in New York

if they argue about anything

 •  they try not to however they've also been married for 80 years so they have to argue. I think they're the type that don't argue and then when they start to have an argument all these little things that are upsetting them not necessarily even about each other are just brought up because they're so emotional that they're having an argument with each other and they don't like arguing with each other

who leaves more marks of the other (lipstick marks, scratches, etc)

 • Jay's speedster so Joan has to reapply trust me

who steals whose clothes and how often

 •  I think Joan takes Jay's jackets on occasion but she's much too fashionable to steal his clothing. I do think that Jay will sometimes take a sweater of Joan's so he can have her smell around when she's teaching a class for forever (read: 4 hours)

how they cuddle ( spooning? facing each other? )

 •  I think they are spooners

what their favourite nonsexual activity is

 •  I don't know why but I feel like they would scrapbook together

how long they stay mad at each other

 •  we know that Joan has kicked Jay out of the house for the night before but I don't think it's ever lasted more than one night

what their usual coffee / tea orders are

 •  again this is a really not something I think about. we know Jay drinks coffee if that helps

if they ever have any children together

 • Miscarriage TW: I think they had a lot of attempts at having children and that some made a few months before being lost. Of course they do have Judy! I'm not discounting that, but child loss is very important to the Garricks' story. I think Judy is either 1) the little boy they thought they lost to pneumonia but all grown up and transgender or 2) a niece they took in when her parents couldn't take care of her

if they have any special pet names for each other

 •  again it could take me afternoons to go through the pet names that they use for each other canonically. however I do think it's mostly "dear" for Jay and "honey" for Joan if I remember correctly

if they ever split up and / or get back together

 •  I can't imagine that they would to be honest

what their shared living space is like ( messy? clean? what kind of decor? )

 •  they are always in the midst of some sort of project

what their first christmas / hanukkah / etc as a couple was like

 •  I like the idea that one of their first Christmases together was also just after they had graduated from college and they had temporarily moved to New York and they tried to go ice skating at the ice skating rink at Rockefeller center and it just did not go well. But they still had a lot of fun. It was probably interrupted by Flash shenanigans. And Jay was not happy about it. And then shown teased him for being grumpy. And she reveals that she got them tickets to go see The nutcracker or the Rockettes or whatever and Jay has flashbacks to the last time they went to the theater together and he ended up having to play all the roles for their director friend and he just is like well what if we ran home to the Midwest and enjoyed a sleigh ride and Joan is like we can absolutely do that. after we see the show.

 • Based off my parents: AaaaaJay and AaaaJoan because they have been putting each other in their cell phones like that since they could put people into their cell phones and they do it like that so they're always each other's first contact.

if they have any ‘couple traditions’ ( buying a new mug for their collection every year? baking every friday evening? )

 •  I like the idea of them gardening together and doing something like planting new bushes together every year

 •  these are both Jay.
