                        What a question. It almost tickled her, it would tickle her if she wasn’t still completely numbed by the events of that night. The person who had been the CLOSEST to her was taken, her life ripped away before she’d had any real chance to LIVE it. The sorrow was still real, the SCREAM of Hannah echoing through her mind. One mistake made by Beth and it was too late, her sister had fallen to her death. At least she had assumed that to be the case, the body had never been found by the search team. It was assumed some wild animal had taken her, which only made things that much worse. Still, his question was a little humorous. 

“I don’t think I’m ever in any universe anymore, I don’t even want to be.” It had probably been a silly question, one to perhaps ease any tension in the room but all Beth could think about was the fact she NEEDED to be in a universe where Hannah was still alive. She felt incomplete without her. 

Tears threatened as Beth stared out the window of their home, snow was falling again and that only brought her back to the slopes. The snow that had been inviting before it had been the reason for most of her nightmares. “Right now, I’m doing the universe where nothing happened to us. The one where we all got stupid drunk TOGETHER … where Hannah didn’t have a stupid fucking crush on anyone and the stupid prank didn’t make her run. One where I ran faster …. or one where I was STRONG enough to keep her from falling.” She could have said the one where he had woken up and gone with her but Beth would never burden her brother with that guilt. Guilt she felt was entirely rested upon her shoulders. “I’m okay. I think the answer you wanted was …. I dunno, sleeping on a sunny beach with the waves crashing at my feet? Something cool and nice like that. Right?”

I LOVE MENDEL hes my favourite adult man in all of theatre in my eyes he can do no wrong* (*disclaimer: i know he does stuff wrong but i love him flaws and all)
