Omg it was SO good and the animation was BEAUTIFUL! I really liked the "We don't talk about Bruno" song a lot more than I thought I would. It was probably my favorite song. I also feel like the whole movie was just so beautiful overall. I really love stories that hinge on characters and character relationships, and getting to see the development of a family/ the individuals in it go from these people who are so burdened by outside (and internal) expectations to accepting and embracing themselves (and each other) was just so nice.
Same, and I also love the context of “she wasn’t doing this out of cruelty, this is how her trauma manifested and she wants to be better for the sake of her family because it truly wasn’t intentional” without it ignoring the trauma. Like, that’s personal af and it’s just so beautiful. Like with Isabela, I love her so much, she just wants to be her own person and herself, which is v relatable. Everybody feels like their own person, and even with Mirabel’s parents being my least favorite, as they’re just not my favorite archetypes, they are still lovable yet believe people. It’s nice having family centered movies.
