When Prohibition repeal was ratified, New York wholesale houses lost no time in delivering "goods" to those eager to quench their thirst. Above, the first consignment from a wine warehouse for various hotels, January 9, 1934.

DAY NINE
predictably this is a tmg song i love, although i do find it repetitive and perhaps a little funny. but, engaging with it on its own terms, i like the way john paints a character with very few brushstrokes.
i also did not know that this song is actually called "solomon revisited revisited", and was written incorrectly on the tapes.
when i went to listen to the song tonight, i found my very own youtube comment from seven years ago. i was probably sixteen or seventeen, and very depressed.
"what was john even doing honestly" ? well, now i know — reading postwar polish poetry about stoves, creating stories and characters, and making music.
thanks, john. seven years later i am doing much better, and i've got a radio!

Jan 9 - My "not-a-hoodie" on the left, when I decided it was at least up to a wearable state back in May 2025, and how it looks this evening now that I've finished adding a hood and replacing the pocket. I am *SO* much happier with how it looks now. For only the third crocheted garment I've made in my life (ie, something more complex than a scarf), I'm actually kind of pleased with it. Previous garments were a mesh sweater I made back in the 90s before I stopped crocheting, and more recently there was the mesh poncho sweater I made shortly after taking up crochet again.
Also partially cleaned the washroom today. And gamed (of course).
For supper I dug some leftover turkey & gravy and a small container of turkey stock out of the freezer, and made a turkey stew.
it probably didn't mean much to him, but i still remember when a stranger paid my bill, all i did was listen to him talk about his dreams, then we sat in the heavy air of all that never happened. or how about when a dark night had me clutching at my throat, and a friend i rarely hear from sent me a link to his favorite song, hey, new song rec, just thought of you. i came crashing back to earth, i would later learn the term "grounding". or what about when i couldn't remember the last time i felt a warm touch, and my friend had a baby on one hip and 3 bags in her hand, here, let me take her, this small body reached for me like i was something to want. this little human stared at me like god was sending her a message, she put a hand on my face, clutching my skin, left a mark, my world stopped. what i'm trying to say is - it's everywhere, the soft love, the intimacy of being known, the opportunity. there is no waiting or searching or finding, it's all around us.
