Jake noticed how Lo'ak stayed in his hammock later than he should.

How Kiri was silently following him, talking to him softly.

How red his eyes were.

It concerned Jake. Especially after their...conversation last night.

What he said was wrong, he knew it. Remebering he said it out loud to his son made his chest ache. He was just mad. Upset. They both were. And Jake knew that nothing he could say would fix it in the moment. Lo'ak wouldn't listen.

Though what Neytiri said made his stomach twist.

"...or you will lose another son."

Jake didn't want to think of all the different meanings of that sentence. It scared him.

He watches as Lo'ak leaves the mauri, his steps slow. Kiri follows soon after, keeping her distance.

Something was wrong.

He follows Kiri, catching up to her. He knew she knew he was there, so he didn't startle her when he placed his hand on her shoulder, turning her towards him.

"Babygirl, what's going on with Lo'ak?"

She stares up at him, words on her tongue. She swallows them down.

"He's...really upset...What did you say to him?"

Jake sighs, ears flattening.

"The wrong thing," he says, rubbing her cheek quickly before walking off to follow Lo'ak.

When he catches up, Lo'ak is curled up on the sand, leaning against a rock. Jake stares at him for a moment.

"Lo'ak," he says softly. Lo'ak tenses, glancing over at Jake. He doesn't move. Doesn't say anything.

Jake sits down next to him, leaning against the rock. He stares at the water for a moment before looking down at Lo'ak. He pushes some braids behind his ear.

"Can you look at me, please?" He asks, keeping any sharpness out of his voice. He didn't want to scare him away.

Hesitantly, Lo'ak looks up at Jake. Jake sees the red, wet eyes again and his chest aches. His ears flatten. He reaches up, holding Lo'ak's face in hand. He wipes away a tear.

"Why are you crying?" He knew why. He just wanted to hear it from the boy.

Lo'ak sniffled, pushing his hand away.

"You hate me."

Jake exhales softly, shaking his head.

"No...no I don't hate you. I could never hate you. I love you, son," he says, holding his face to look him in the eyes. Lo'ak lets out a sob. He shakes his head.

"No...you do. I killed Neteyam, and you hate me for it. You wish it was me," he mumbles.

"No." Jake says, his voice a little rougher than he intended it. He grips Lo'ak's face tighter. "No. No you're wrong. You're all wrong. It's not your fault. I don't wish it was you, don't say that," he says, softening his voice again.

"Don't lie..." Lo'ak whimpers, looking down as he sobs silently. Jake hates it when he cries. And he hates even more that he thinks Lo'ak looks pretty when he cries. Jake huffs. How can he get this kid to believe him...?

With one hand, Jake grabs his kuru, bringing it in front of him. Lo'ak looks down at it, staring at him with wide wet eyes.

"I'm not lying...show me how you feel," he says softly. Lo'ak stares at his kuru for a moment before grabbing his, bringing it forward. The ends open up. Jake takes a deep breath before they connect.

Their senses double, making the both of them gasp softly. It was always different with another Na'vi compared to an animal. Both their pupils grow.

Lo'ak gets hit with a wave of sorrow and pure love.

Jake gets hit with a wave of pain and sadness.

Then he sees it. Feels it. The gut wrenching feeling after being blamed. The idea of dying, the feeling of loneliness, the brief feeling of no escape, the gun under his chin and the hands of Tsireya and Kiri holding him after he threw the gun away, unable to go through with it.

Jake lets out a sob.

He never cries. Not in front of his kids at least. He's a marine. He suppresses his emotions, no matter how strong. At least...on the battlefield.

Lo'ak looks at him with surprise.

"Lo'ak..." Jake whispers, grabbing the boy and pulling him into a hug. He cries softly into the boy's hair, feeling overwhelming sadness from the both of them. It makes his chest hurt.

"I'm sorry, baby. I'm so sorry." He whispers apologizes to Lo'ak, his words jumbling out. He doesn't do that often.

Lo'ak cries softly, hugging his dad back. The two sit there for a while, soaking in their feelings. Jake rests his head on Lo'ak. He didn't want to let him go. Ever. Lo'ak feels this.

And Jake feels this overwhelming desire.

It's innocent, but desperate.

Lo'ak want's to make him proud, wants to be good. Wants to be held and touched.

Jake pulls back to kiss Lo'ak.

It's quick. To test his reaction.

Lo'ak stares wide eyed, crying softly as he reaches forward, kissing Jake again. It's slow, but passionate.

Jake could feel the joy that began to radiate from Lo'ak.

Jake kisses harder, deeper, starting to slip his tongue in. Lo'ak whines, letting Jake do what he wants. They pull away for air, breath tickling the others as they keep kissing. Their breath was hot and heavy, kisses deep. Lo'ak whines softly.

Jake can't help but think how erotic this is. He hasn't felt like this since him and Neytiri mated in the forest.

Being compared to his mom made Lo'ak moan, shuddering.

Jake liked that.

He keeps kissing Lo'ak, climbing over the boy.

He'd show him everything, because his baby asked him.
