your lover shows you a human invention you'll cherish forever...! notes: yawne stands for beloved, and sevin stands for pretty. neteyam x reader
"neteyam,"
his glittering eyes raise from the basket he'd been weaving, hands quickly falling from the thin vines so he can redirect his attention towards your form instead. neteyam's palm reaches out to tug you gently onto the forest floor beside him, curling around your waist the moment you're in arms length
"you have my bag with you, sevin?" he questions with a confused smile, and you nod with a frown as you pull out the item inside that had brought upon more confusion and questions than you could count
"i was looking for a spare cloak in your hut but... i found this. what is this, neteyam?" you inquire, holding up the bulky piece of metal in your hands carefully as a smile blooms across neteyam's face. his golden eyes crinkle with barely restrained glee as he quickly takes the mystery object from you
"it is a human invention, love. they call it a camera." he tells you, reaching a teasing hand out to pinch your cheek as you smile with a soft giggle
"a camera? what does it do?" you question curiously, scooting closer to him as neteyam presses a button to power it on. he uses his other hand to wrap around your shoulder, pulling you into his side as your head naturally falls to rest against his shoulder
"let me show you."
after a few minutes, he holds the object up to his face and pointed your way
"alright, pretty girl. could you smile for me?" neteyam prompts, and you squint your eyes with a confused hum
"smile?" you murmur, playing with the grass beneath you idly as he nods
"look right into this circle for me while you do alright?" he says as he taps the circular glass, and you do as he saysâneteyam would never mislead you, so you don't think twice before sending a beaming smile towards the foreign device in his hands. he laughs softly behind it, before a light shutters and you let out a small sound of surprise
moments later, it produces a small piece of paper. neteyam holds it carefully in his hands after pulling it out, eyes softening as his fingers trace over the image printed before handing it to you. you take it, eyes widening once you realize what it is
"it'sâit's me!" you exclaim, holding it close to your face and squinting in awe. you'd only see your reflection in water most of the time, but thisâthis was a physical copy for you to look at!
"it is," neteyam says, scooting closer as he places a sudden kiss onto your cheek, right near the corner of your mouth
"what was that for?" you giggle, nose gently nudging against his own as he sighs happily
"just felt like kissing you." he murmurs, fingers curling around the object as he suddenly stands
"wait here." neteyam says, looking around before finding a low hanging vine and carefully propping the camera onto it and racing back towards you
"yawne! come here, my love, and smile big!"
he reaches you in a matter of seconds, wrapping his strong arms around you before smushing his cheek against your own and tilting it towards the propped up camera. you can't help the laugh that fizzles out of you from surprise, and the camera clicks at that exact moment. when you both look over the picture minutes later, neteyam deems it perfect.

Neteyam knows heâs walking into danger the moment he steps into the marui.
Not the kind of danger with arrows and smoke. The worse kind.
The kind with tiny arms, a stubborn chin, and a possessive little glare that looks exactly like his motherâs.
Your daughter is perched in your lap like a victorious queen, tail curled around your waist, small fingers gripping your neck. Sheâs half-asleep, warm and sticky from afternoon fruit, and sheâs decided, apparently, that you belong to her.
Neteyam pauses just inside the entrance, watching you with a soft smile.
You look up and grin. âHi.â
He lifts a hand. âHi.â
Your daughterâs eyes crack open at the sound of his voice.
And then she locks onto him.
Neteyam takes one cautious step forward.
Her ears pin.
She tightens her hold around you like a vine.
You sigh, already amused. âOh no.â
Neteyam whispers dramatically, âShe has seen me.â
Your daughter points one accusing finger at him. âNo.â
Neteyam stops. âNo?â
âNo.â She says it again, stronger. âNo, Daddy.â
Neteyam blinks, glancing at you like, Are you hearing this?
You bite your lip to keep from laughing. âWhat are we saying no to, baby?â
Your daughterâs eyes narrow like sheâs deeply offended you even asked. âNo kiss.â
Neteyamâs eyebrows lift. âNo kiss?â
She shakes her head, curls bouncing. âNo. Mama mine.â
Neteyamâs mouth opens.
Closes.
He makes a sound like heâs trying not to laugh. âMama⌠is yours?â
Your daughter nods decisively. âYes.â
Neteyam puts a hand to his chest in exaggerated shock. âWhat about me?â
She stares at him like heâs clearly not understanding the rules of the universe. âYou⌠daddy.â
Neteyam nods. âYes.â
Your daughter gestures toward the far side of the marui with the authority of a clan leader. âGo.â
You choke on a laugh. âOh my god.â
Neteyam looks personally attacked. âShe is sending me away.â
You pat your daughterâs back gently. âSweetheart, Daddy is allowed to be here.â
She glares. âNo.â
Neteyam leans his head to the side, studying her like sheâs a new creature he hasnât catalogued yet. âMaâite,â he says carefully, âwhy no?â
Your daughter presses her cheek to your chest and mumbles, âMama mine.â
Neteyam takes another step forward, slow and cautious, like approaching a skittish ikran.
Your daughter immediately throws both arms around your neck and shouts:
âNOOO!â
Neteyam freezes again.
You laugh helplessly. âOh my,baby, itâs okay!â
Neteyam points at your daughter. âShe is screaming.â
âSheâs protecting me,â you say, teasing.
Neteyam narrows his eyes. âFrom me.â
Your daughter jabs a finger at him again. âNo touch.â
Neteyamâs lips twitch. âNo touch.â
She nods. âNo.â
He looks at you, wounded. âShe thinks I am a threat.â
You grin. âWell⌠you are pretty handsome. Maybe sheâs worried.â
Neteyamâs face warms. âY/N.â
Your daughter gasps like youâve betrayed her. âNo say his name!â
Neteyamâs eyes widen. âShe said no say my name.â
Youâre shaking with laughter now, shoulders trembling.
Neteyam points at you. âYou are enjoying this.â
âIâm not enjoying it,â you lie, wiping at your eyes. âIâm suffering.â
Your daughter pats your cheek. âMama sad?â
âNo,â you manage, still giggling. âMama happy.â
Your daughter nods seriously. âGood.â
Neteyam takes a slow breath, then straightens like a warrior preparing for battle.
âOkay,â he says. âWe will negotiate.â
Your daughter squints. âNo.â
Neteyam ignores that. He crouches down a few feet away, voice gentle. âMaâite. I am your father.â
She nods.
âAnd she is your mother.â
She nods again, satisfied.
Neteyam gestures between himself and you. âBut⌠she is also my wife.â
Your daughterâs eyes go wide, like he just said the sky is green.
âNo,â she says instantly.
Neteyamâs brows lift. âYes.â
âNo.â
âYes.â
âNo!â
Neteyam looks at you, pleading. âTell her.â
You choke back laughter. âBaby, Daddy is right. Iâm his wife.â
Your daughter turns slowly to stare at you like youâve committed the greatest crime in history.
Then she whispers, devastated, âMama⌠why?â
You gasp, laughing and melting at the same time. âOh no,baby, I love you and Daddy.â
Your daughter clutches you tighter. âNo Daddy.â
Neteyam puts a hand over his heart again. âThis is pain.â
You grin. âYouâre being rejected.â
Neteyamâs voice goes dramatic. âBy my own child.â
Your daughter nods firmly. âYes.â
Neteyam stares at her, then sits back on his heels. âFine,â he says, like heâs making a huge sacrifice. âIf I cannot kiss my wifeâŚâ
Your daughter watches suspiciously.
Neteyam continues, âThen I will kissâŚâ
He looks at your daughter.
Your daughterâs eyes narrow. âNo.â
Neteyam leans forward slightly, voice warm. âYou.â
Your daughter freezes.
You blink. âOh?â
Neteyam smiles softly. âMay I kiss you, maâite?â
Your daughter looks torn, like she wants affection, but also wants to maintain authority.
She glances at you, then back at Neteyam.
ââŚSmall,â she decides.
Neteyam nods solemnly. âSmall.â
He leans in carefully and kisses her forehead.
Your daughterâs face goes very still, like her brain is short-circuiting from the sweetness.
Then she smiles, huge, bright, and immediately goes back to glaring at him.
âOkay,â she says. âNow go.â
Neteyamâs jaw drops. âThat did not work.â
You laugh. âYou thought you could bribe her.â
Neteyam stands slowly, hands on his hips. âI thought she would remember I am lovable.â
Your daughter points again. âGo.â
Neteyam squints. âWhere?â
She gestures vaguely. âAway.â
Neteyam looks like heâs about to argue, then Jakeâs voice cuts in from outside, amused and loud.
âNeteyam! You in there getting bullied?â
Neteyamâs head whips toward the entrance. âFather!â
Jake steps in, grinning like he already knows everything. He takes one look at your daughter clinging to you like a barnacle and laughs.
âOhhh,â Jake says, pointing. âI know that face.â
You raise an eyebrow. âYou do?â
Jake nods sagely. âThatâs the âThis is my mom, donât even breathe near herâ face.â
Neteyam throws his hands up. âShe will not let me near my wife!â
Jake looks delighted. âHa! Welcome to the club.â
Neteyam narrows his eyes. âYou were not blocked from Mother.â
Jake pauses, then scratches his head. âOkay, maybe once or twice when you guys were little.â
Your daughter turns her glare on Jake, immediately suspicious of his existence.
Jake lifts both hands. âWhoa. Easy, small one. Iâm not here for your mama.â
Your daughter studies him, then points at him too.
âGo,â she commands.
Jake blinks. âMe?â
âYes,â she says, tiny and absolute. âGo.â
You make a strangled sound between laughter and shock. âOh my god, sheâs ordering Jake around too.â
Neteyam looks smug for half a second. âSee? It is not only me.â
Jake crouches down, grinning. âListen, kid. Thatâs my daughter-in-law youâre guarding. I respect the hustle.â
Your daughterâs eyes narrow. âHushâŚle?â
Jake laughs. âYeah. Your⌠protective vibes.â
Neteyam sighs. âFather, you are not helping.â
Jake sits back, still amused. âI am helping. Iâm teaching you.â He points at your daughter. âYou canât out-stubborn a Sully.â
Neteyam looks affronted. âI am stubborn.â
Jake smirks. âExactly. She got it from you.â
Neteyam glares. âShe got it from her mother too.â
You gasp. âExcuse me?â
Neteyam turns to you with mock innocence. âYou are stubborn.â
Your daughter nods vigorously. âMama stubborn!â
You groan. âTraitors. Both of you.â
Jake chuckles. âAlright, alright. Hereâs what you do.â He leans closer to Neteyam like heâs sharing top secret combat strategy. âYou donât go for the kiss. You go for the distraction.â
Neteyam frowns. âDistraction.â
Jake nods seriously. âYup. Like a shiny shell. Or a snack.â
Neteyamâs eyebrows lift. âThat is bribery.â
Jake shrugs. âParenting is 80% bribery.â
Neteyam looks deeply offended by that statistic.
You laugh. âHeâs not wrong.â
Neteyam straightens like heâs reclaiming dignity. âI will not bribe my child to kiss my wife.â
Your daughter gasps and clutches you tighter. âNo kiss!â
Neteyam points at her. âSee? She heard you.â
Jake stands, still laughing. âFine. Then do it the hard way.â
Neteyam narrows his eyes. âThe hard way.â
Jake nods. âYou remind her whoâs boss.â
Your daughter immediately glares again like sheâs ready for war.
Neteyam takes a breath, then steps closer, calm, confident, gentle authority.
He looks at your daughter. âMaâite.â
She hugs you tighter.
Neteyamâs voice is firm, not loud. âYou do not tell me to go away.â
Your daughter pouts. âBut Mama,â
Neteyam interrupts gently. âMama is safe.â
âBut,â
Neteyam holds up one finger. âAnd you will share.â
Your daughter stares at him like he just cursed.
âShare?â she whispers, appalled.
Neteyam nods. âYes.â
Your daughter looks at you, horrified. âMama no share.â
You smooth her hair. âBaby⌠we share love. That means Daddy can kiss me, and you can still have Mama cuddles.â
Your daughterâs eyes dart between you and Neteyam, calculating.
Then she points at Neteyamâs face.
âNo mouth,â she declares.
Neteyam blinks. âNo mouth.â
She nods. âCheek.â
Neteyam glances at you like, Is this a compromise?
You grin. âTake what you can get.â
Neteyam steps closer to you, slow enough not to trigger alarms, and leans in.
Your daughter watches with intense suspicion.
Neteyam kisses your cheek.
Soft. Quick. Like heâs testing a boundary.
Your daughter gasps, but she doesnât scream.
She doesnât shove him.
She just scowls.
âAgain?â Neteyam asks you quietly, eyes sparkling.
Your daughter immediately raises a finger. âNo.â
Neteyam laughs under his breath. âOkay, okay.â
Jake points at Neteyam like a proud coach. âLook at you. Surviving.â
Neteyam shoots him a glare. âStop.â
Jake grins wider. âSheâs got you wrapped around her little finger.â
Neteyam looks at your daughter, who is still clinging to you like a tiny guardian, and his stern face melts into soft warmth.
ââŚYes,â he admits. âShe does.â
Your daughter nods, satisfied. âGood.â
You laugh, leaning into Neteyamâs side. âSo this is my life now? Being fought over?â
Neteyam kisses your temple carefully, eyes on your daughter. âIt seems you are very valuable.â
Your daughter pats your cheek possessively. âMama precious.â
Jake whistles. âDang. You got a whole security detail.â
Neteyam sighs, but heâs smiling. âI only wanted to kiss my wife.â
Your daughter glares. âCheek only.â
Neteyam nods solemnly. âCheek only.â
Then he leans close to your daughter and whispers, dramatic, âBut I will win one day.â
Your daughterâs eyes widen. âNo!â
Neteyam grins. âMaybe.â
Your daughter squawks and buries her face in your neck, and you laugh so hard your sides hurt.
Jake claps Neteyamâs shoulder. âGood luck, son.â
Neteyam mutters, âI need it.â
And as you hold your tiny jealous guardian between you,Neteyam on one side, your daughter on the other, you realize something warm and ridiculous:
Youâve never been loved so loudly in your life.

More Than Strangers, Less Than Friends - Neteyam // Part One
You are the eldest daughter of Ronal and Tonowari. Several months after his recovery from a bullet wound that rendered him comatose, your parents have arranged a bond-pact between Toruk Makto's son and you to be mated. It wouldn't be such a problem if not for the glaring issueâyour lover.
Warnings- ooc Neteyam, obsessive
A/N- This fanfic is old, like 2023 old. I wrote it but never posted it! I decided since Avatar is getting popular again to do it! Here's part one to... I think a five part series? Most likely more knowing myself. I kinda cringe seeing my old writing but eh! Hope you enjoy!
Part Two
You were the first daughter of your clanâs Oloâeyktan, second-born and always second-chosen.
From the beginning, your life had been shaped around the things you were not. Not the next heir. Not the next Tsahik.
It had been simple, really. From the moment you were old enough to understand words. It had been explained gently at first, then plainly as you grew: Tsireya possessed the healerâs gift, not you. Aoânung was a natural leader, you lacked charm. You suppose your parents thought that by saying it softly, itâd somehow prevent the slow-growing rot of envy.Â
So you remained something in-between, between earth and sea.
âYou do not need to be more than what you are,â your mother always said, brushing your cheek with her thumb. âEywa makes nothing without reason.â You believed her.
Or tried to.
Years passed, and you made your own purpose. By duty you supposed. It was the only thing you could really accomplish.
If a predator stalked too close, you killed it.
If a child wandered off, you found them.
If a duty was too tedious, too tiring, too thanklessâyour hands were already reaching for it.
So dutiful.
So indispensable.
So quietly wanted.
