When Addison tells Jake she is not in love with him for the first time, they do not get divorced. I really thought I was, she tells him, and he sits beside her on the bed they share and smiles like he’s known for a long time. He smiles in a way that looks like a frown, looks like he’s sad, but maybe like he’s sad for her and not because of her. I don’t think I’ve ever been in love before. S18E3 AU where Addison has just gotten divorced and finds herself in Meredith’s home, eating dinner with her family, crying on her couch, and falling asleep in her bed. And Meredith, with her big eyes and her warm hands guiding Addison to lean against her shoulder, invites her over for dinner.
