2009 - 2023: Lisa Marie Presley strictly refuses to give interviews to anyone writing unauthorized biographies on Michael Jackson
Randy Taraborrelli, Christopher Andersen, and various investigative journalists frequently noted that formal requests for interviews sent to Lisa Marie Presley's publicists were either explicitly declined or entirely ignored. Some, like Steve Knopper (“MJ: The Genius of Michael Jackson”) was forced to write “Lisa Marie Presley refused to answer questions about Michael Jackson”, Taraborrelli worked around this by mentioning the names of those who did colaborate with him, and recycling old interviews.
After Michael’s death, there was a non-end publishing of books on his life, death and final days, and Lisa wanted no part on any of it, similar to her attitude towards her own father:
DS: And all these years later, Elvis’ little girl is still trying to protect him. Recently, Lisa Marie Presley saw one of the tabloid biographies on a cable channel. Saw the entourage of so-called friends of Elvis telling searing details of his final days.
LMP: All these people that, you know, were part of his life at that point were just taking him down, basically, and turning him into…, you know. Taking his dignity away, and I thought, you know… I’m going to give it back.
DS: You think they should have saved him?
LMP: They could’ve.
DS: […] But wasn’t he broken?
LMP: Hmm, I think at the end. And I think he was in trouble. He was not happy, you know. [He was] obviously crying out for help. So what is the point in trying to take away his dignity and cashing in on it, you know? And getting attention for that? It’s disgusting. I hope they rot in hell.”
