Breakfast (Jack x Jerry)
First fic for Jackjerry no way?! Yeah I decided I should try writing these two because it's the most popular TFTGS ship and I decided maybe I could add something no one else has. Or not IDK. Not sure if it matters. Anyways this is just simple fluff. Nothing more nothing less.
TW: Swearing, mentioned drug use and TFTGS spoilers, mainly volume 3 but it could be anything else NGL.
The manager of the shitty gas station at rue edges of town, Jack was drinking his coffee and reading a book about a grocery store employee that finds out he has super physicality and is gay at the same time in the living room. It's been a very hot minute since the whole reset of the universe, and so far it's been pretty ok. Sure he and his new boyfriend and roommate Jerry had been dealing with the same weird situations the gas station offered by itself, especially Rocco and the rest of the raccoons along with the garden gnomes. But besides that all was well and taken care of. Just the usual bullshit that happens around town, not anything immensely world ending or concerning like the whole incident with the Collector or of the sort. And Rodger and Spencer have been leaving him alone. Which was always quite the bonus as well, Jack would have been ok with either of them leaving him and his life alone.
Just as always Jack was having a good time as he could reading and killing some of the time he had before work. The good thing about being the manager of an establishment is that you don't need to do much as you have to as the only full timer. You could just hire a couple of part timers every now and then and show up a little less regularly but still regularly to check and work some things on by yourself. Brought a lot less stress and feelings of dread that Jack has experienced since well… the crash with her many years ago. So he appreciated that despite the fact he didn't know how to run a business correctly and bills were piling up on him left and right. It was like before the Blarc all over again finance wise. Which wasn't good. But he'll probably figure a way out to do so.
He always does, even if he doesn't tell his deluded mind that. He continued to read and sip his coffee until all of it was out. He didn't notice that until he put the mug in his mouth and tried to get another sip only to realize that the mug was unfortunately empty. He scoffed at it and shook his head in slight frustration. He thought there was way more of the energy bean juice inside the thing. He shook his head and muttered something even he couldn't really hear or interpret.
“Damn it,” He said to himself as he grumbled and got up, carefully holding the mug so he didn't drop it in any way. “Well, time to get a new refill I suppose,”
Jack then grabbed and put the prosthetic leg he left resting against the chair nearby back on what used to be one of his legs and got up. He looked around for a second for no reason and then walked over to the kitchen nearby, not expecting the smell of bacon and eggs to fill his nose. It did make Jack pretty hungry, which made him soon realize that he didn't eat anything so far. Shit! He checked the clock, just to see how fucked he was. Only to find out he had about an hour before he had to show up. It was six AM, and he as well as Jerry had to be there by seven o'clock. So he had enough time to fill up on some grub and then go with Jerry for another very long shift at the gas station. Jack only hoped Rosa and Benji were handling things well enough on their own for the time being.
Speaking of Jerry, as soon as Jack went in he saw the former cultist getting done making some omelet. He was wearing jeans and a shirt that showed the cover of System Of A Down’s most famous album “Toxicity” on it with the exception of Killroy being in the front along with Stone Cold Steve Austin giving Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson a stunner on the side. It was definitely a bootleg shirt like half of Jerry's wardrobe for shirts. And Jack wasn't sure if he fully liked it given how none of these correlated besides maybe anti-authority given the fact System Of A Down and Stone Cold was mentioned. But Jerry seemed to like it, so Jack didn't mind that either.
Jerry seemed to have a new hobby of cooking. He got that right after the Blarc and seemed to not stop at all. Jack was happy that this was a hobby that expanded his boyfriend's creativity along with art and didn't involve drugs, swords or that Russian radio (granted Jerry never even spoke a word about it after the big reset. But Jack didn't want to risk another situation happening like that. Especially when the two had just started dating and making Jack realize he wasn't straight at all.)
Jerry put two plates of sizable enough omelettes and smiled as he placed a glass of fruit punch on the table and grabbed Jack's mug and began filling it with more coffee. Jack looked completely shocked at the sudden act of kindness but smiled and let it happen. Jerry then put the coffee on the table and went over to Jack. And before Jack knew it Jerry pressed his lips against Jack's. And then they both kissed for a minute. It was an ok kiss because Jack still was really bad at kissing. After that Jerry pulled away from the kiss and then kissed Jack's forehead, leaving Jack completely blushing red and feeling a little confused.
“Hey babe!” Jerry said in a sing-song voice. He went over and sat down on the chair near the table. “I made breakfast! Isn't that pretty neato?! I just made omelettes with some bacon in it. I didn't really know what else to cook because I was REALLY high last night and decided on this,”
Jack's eyes were wide as he saw it. Jerry outdid himself in this, that's for sure. He didn't know if he should be happy or relieved that Jerry didn't burn the house down in any way. Jack nodded in approval before sitting down as well, grabbing one of the forks and taking a bite out of the omelette. And as Jerry said, it was completely delicious.
“It is indeed pretty good,” Jack said in between eating as Jerry simply smiled and blushed. Jack would never get used to a man with facial hair being slightly pink cheeks. It felt pretty odd to him. “You did a good job,”
“Thanks! I shall consider myself blessed by the cooking Gods that I have gotten such high approval from the best!” Jerry joked. He then dug into his cooking. “I am glad that this is good in any way. We just NEED the energy for today. I don't know about you, but I feel like we probably need some more protein in our diets. I mean… look at you!”
Jack didn't know if that was an insult or a concern. For Jerry it could be either way.
“Not cool,” Jack said.
“Ok, maybe that was a little uncalled for,” Jerry said. “But still, I feel like you need something to keep you going. And this is a solid starter, plus this place does need a little bit of improvement y'know? I was thinking of making it feel like-”
“No Jerry, we're not making it like the compound. That's just weird,” Jack said.
“It's not a compound, I thought we had already been through this already,” Jerry whined. But deep inside he was enjoying the light teasing. Even if it was a little hurtful sometimes,”
“Yeah, yeah whatever you say,” Jack said, sipping his coffee. “Whatever you say,”
“I love you so much,” Jerry muttered.
“Love you too Jerry,” was all Jack replied with.
They both spent the rest of the time eating. Jack finished his omelette up REALLY nice and neatly while Jerry ate his and about two more. There were two left that Jack saved for tomorrow. Overall it was an extremely good meal to start the day. Jack knew that this was probably the best thing he ate for breakfast ever since he worked at the gas station in the past decade or so. It wasn't long after they did dishes was the time when Jack checked his clock and his face went pale.
It read six forty am. Jack immediately went into complete shock for a second before turning to Jerry as soon as he was done with the dishes.
“OH SHIT!” Jack yelled. “Jerry, we need to go now!”
“I’m on it!” Jerry shouted, quickly running and grabbing the car keys and then going back into the kitchen where Jack was following. “We got everything?!”
Jack did a quick pad down, grabbed his backpack and nodded.
“Alright, enough time, let's get out of here and into our real home!” Jerry said, making Jack cringe at how right he was.
Before they knew it, they got out of the house into the cold morning air, closed and locked the door behind them and got in the car. Jerry then put the key into the ignition and drove off, starting their journey back into the gas station like the world was going to end again if they didn't show up by seven o'clock in the morning.
Volume 3 true ending
Jack’s conveniently spaced out 24/7 so he never notices the lovestruck stares
(speedpaint under the cut)
I don't think I know any of your fandoms, but I just say 2D of the draw meme of your current ot3 obsession/favorite

Sir those are my emotional support characters
Have some Jack and Jerry Cat AU art cause I finally got to read Bedside Manor and we wildin
Just wrote like four words so far for my Jackjerry fic I wanted to write (it's very in development so far now I'm not sure when I'll finish it. I'll try though.) And I kind of stopped because like I'm worried I'll mess up Jack and Jerry's character. For some reason I don't think I've written their interactions that much before so writing a whole thing shipping them is gonna be hard. Doesn't help that writing Jerry is the hardest thing for me despite the fact he's comedy relief plus angst that he hides.
I'll try anyway. No matter what the best thing is to try.
