Keeley's Arc Theory
I just can't stop thinking of Keeley's story even though I'm not happy with it right now. I don't write this with any joy.
I'm wondering if Keeley is going to repeat her mum’s mistake: work for someone who will take all the credit. (And we don't know yet, perhaps her mother was also involved with this boss who took all the credit?)
Upon rewatch, I realized Jack's first face to face joke/comment to Keeley is really a subtly unprofessional/inappropriate comment.
Then, when she was giving Keeley "advice" about how to fire Shandy, she started by making Keeley think she was the one getting fired. Jack laughed it off as a joke but that kind of thing can really unnerve someone, set them off-kilter. It's a subtle power move.
Last, Jack, the one who holds the purse strings/funding for Keeley’s business, asked Keeley for alcohol at the office when they were the only two there. Why not just go out? Leave the bad smell instead staying there with it? So now, bear with me, and let's pretend Jack is a man. Now go and read the above examples again.
I’ve been worried about Keeley’s kindness and absence of boundaries for a while, particularly because of her history as a glamour model and the treatment she likely received. This might bring it to a head.
Lastly, this would also be an interesting parallel to Rebecca who also repeated her mother’s mistake of marrying a philandering man. We're getting into Mummy issues as opposed to Daddy issues.
And don't forget, we were told why was the "shading" of the office glass put there - it enabled sexual harassment.
