So I decided to feed my inner child. I ordered a set of books I was OBSESSED with when I was a kid. The Jack Blank series.
I loved these novels more than...maybe any series I've ever read. I read the End of Infinity so many times the covers fell off. When I loaned my Accidental Hero book to a friend and they lost it, I CRIED (probably a little over dramatic but I was YOUNG and might I remind you, OBSESSED). I made art and wrote fan fiction and made cosplays before I knew anything about those things so that I could show off my favorite books to my class mates for my book reports (and yes I did each book for 3 different projects, IT WAS A PROBLEM).
So with all this in mind, you'd think it would be pointless to read them because OBVIOUSLY I would remember them right? WRONG. I remember exactly NONE of these books, so I've gotten to read them all for the first time again. I read the end of Accidental Hero with my jaw on the floor. I just finished Secret War screaming at my friend because the RĂĽstov got ahold of Jack. Now...I haven't started The End of Infinity yet but I'm sure I'll be just as excited.
BUT as a jaded adult...GOD this book series is good, man. I completely forgot how incredible it was. The writing is stellar, the characters are amazing, and it has had me so fucking engaged the whole time. I've literally finished the first two books in a week (which may be common for some people but is UNHEARD OF for me now). In the end, it's just a good time dude.
So what is this about? Who fucking knows. Maybe it's just me needing to tell people how good this series is. Maybe I just wanted to talk about an interest. Or maybe this is my recommendation to you to go back to something you loved long ago. I think you'll be surprised how much you'll love it now.
