og bo looked just like buster. the splitting image. his design wasn’t very original but at least he fell in line with how the other parents looked. at least he didn’t look creepy

then we have bo 2.0 who made his first horrific appearance in season 8 episode 6 “postcards from buster,” the pilot episode for arthur’s spinoff of the same name. i guess they redesigned him because bo’s design looked too similar to buster’s so they decided to make him look TERRIFYING. WHAT EVEN. 

well thank fuck pbs decided that bo 2.0 was a no go for the spinoff, so they redesigned him AGAIN, leading to bo 3.0, who looks like a human man with surgically attached rabbit ears. they managed to make him look less ugly but tbh he’s pretty creepy looking. 

Most of my Vixy headcanons are inspired by the Benimaru Itoh comics, which are the only source of official Nintendo media that discusses Fox’s mom to any degree.  

If you’re not familiar with the comics, there’s a mini arc where Fox’s love interest (Fara Phoenix) is actually targeted by Andross due to her physical similarity to Vixy, who he was in love with but accidentally murdered.  This is actually kind of weird because Vixy in this picture looks pretty much nothing like Fara.  A lot of fans interpret this as meaning that Vixy was part fennec fox, which is honestly something I have adapted as well into my own headcanons.  

I headcanon Vixy having died before James, like in the comics.  Although it’s not really stated how Andross knew Vixy, I interpreted it as that they were coworkers, meaning that Vixy herself was a scientist who worked alongside Andross and Beltino Toad.  Although she was blissfully unaware of his growing madness, she did understand he had something of an infatuation with her, but was perfectly fine with ignoring it as she pursued her career.  She and Andross worked together on a large variety of projects and although she knew he was interested in things like warp technology and black holes, she did not really consider him dangerous. 

Because of her profession, Vixy had to be a very fact-based person.  She was concise, immensely enjoyed being right, and was incredibly stubborn.  Although gentle and tender with her son, Fox, she was incredibly protective and wanted to ensure that he was maintaining good health and that he was receiving a good education.  While she did pass when he was still quite young, she was adamant that Fox grow up with a bright future ahead of him.  Between her and James, she was definitely the more strict of the two and definitely the most proactive.  

It’s pretty well known that when Vixy died as a result of a car bomb going off (a bomb intended for James), that James nearly shut down entirely.  Fox is old enough so that he does remember her, but not well.  He was close to the explosion when it happened so some of his memories around that time are still a little jarred and disoriented.  James was depressed for quite a long time after Vixy’s death, and never really fully recovered from her loss.  

Another question is are there ever any slow days/seasons that make it so you barely have to work so you don't have to work at all?

Oof these are great questions.

On the farm I work on, there are days, usually during the late fall, winter, and early spring, that there isn’t much to do. Once the root veggies are packed ayay and the fields are empty of crops but have our winter cover crops on them, it’s pretty dull until we start pruning the orchard. By then I’m usually out and about and doing my thing by about one or two pm. And if it’s very cold (anything below 32 degrees) we don’t go in at all. It’s just not safe, no matter how many layers you have or how good your winter coats are. During the summer, though, when I’m picking and washing and packing and making deliveries and handling social media/emails and getting ready to go to market and and and... I don’t usually get out until six or seven pm. And that’s coming in for seven in the morning. 

And those are just the things that I do. My boss does even more, coming in around eight in the morning and not leaving until the sun goes down. And he’s doing the bookkeeping and the spraying, and he’s making the crop plan and getting on my ass about making sure everything’s planted on time, and we’re looking at the volume of sales we have and he’s doing the payroll and making the schedule. On a smaller farm than ours, certainly, there would be downtime. But if you have anything more than an acre or two, you’ve got your entire growing season where your family sees very little of you.

My husband and I see each other one day a week (my day off) during the growing season, and sometimes for dinner when our schedules match. Other than that, we communicate via text and on discord. Meanwhile, I see my boss between 12 and 14 hours a day, depending on how long the two of us work. 

So, these are very good questions, and to get the best answer, you have to ask yourself: Is the farm in your story a large farm like wheat/corn/soybean farms in the American Midwest? Or is it smaller, like a one to two acre homestead? Keep in mind, the farm I work for is 30 acres and it keeps us plenty busy with a small staff of only about 4 people.
