We know the La Brea Tar Pits population demographics finds skew more carnivore than herbivore, possibly because the carnivores got trapped while trying to scavenge. But do the finds in permafrost regions like Siberia have a a similar demographic skew, or something quite different?

hi, maybe your followers can help me with something -- as a kid i got this one dinosaur game that was included with a book on dinosaurs. it had a sci fi aesthetic going on like it was some kind of spaceship or futuristic lab or something like that, like when you switched between activities you could do it would make a star trek door opening noise, and the UI was all sleek metal, that sort of thing. it was on PC and i really could have sworn it was made by dynotech, but apparently they never made such a game. it wasnt so much a "game" as it was more of an activity center type of thing. is anyone able to remember this?

I dont know much about paleontology. But Im trying to find a book from my child hood (early-mid 2000s) about animals in the permian period. I have tried to google and ask on reddit and failed. I wasnt sure where else to look. Its a tall/wide/thin hardcover book with a blue background and drawings on the cover. The book is primarily drawings of various creatures with children interacting with them. (Riding them, etc) they also had fold out pages for the bigguns. I just want my book back. My cousin borrowed it several years ago and now its lost.

Hi palaeoblr, I'm an undergraduate studying a bachelour of science in Australia, majoring in Earth Systems/Enviromental science.
I've been nominated a for a possible chance of a scholarship to study or intern at pretty much any academic institution in the asia pacific region, plus Mongolia minus Russia. However I have only been given a very short time frame to select an institution to study at. Normally people who want to study palaeontology in the pacific/south east asia regions come here to Australia, but this scholarship is for studying abroad and I don't have the finacial means to leave for a different university.
Study must be eligible for a credit in an Australian undergraduate degree. The institution of choice has to offer it's course in english or provide language learning experiance and be part of the asia pacific region ( so in the east side of the pacific, like China, Bhutan ect. and not in North, Central or South America.)
I know this is a big ask and it's still early in my academic career, but if you can suggest an institution or offer any suggestions, I would be very very grateful. I'm willing to come off anonymous for further discussion. Thank you for your time.

Hello! Not about prehistoric creatures but a particular person within the field, so to speak? And this regards a very popular post about dinosaur bones potentially being blasted to the moon during the chicxulub impact. I can't find the post now or the reblog, but I do vaguely remember reading an explanation as to why we should take that post with a grain of salt. His name escapes me, but I believe there was an article linked, which focuses around a particular untrustworthy man, with a very romanized Indiana jones-esque view of paleontology, and other paleontologists are wary of him for good reason. If I'm remembering correctly, he does not publish any studies of his claims either. Does anybody have anymore information or is capable of giving a rundown? Hopefully this wasn't too vague.

To rephrase the question I just wanted to know if bipeds outside of theropods were capable of moving their femur in a wider angle than the 90 degree angle that theropods are known to be restricted to. I know that theropods couldn't move their femur and the bone attached to it any wider than a 90 degree angle or it'd dislocate. Does the same apply to other bipedal dinosaurs outside of theropods such as stegoceras or deinocheirus?
'kay so... I know all the "swimming dinosaurs" weren't actually dinosaurs, but how do we know for absolute certain that there were no marine or aquatic dinosaurs? I mean, there are marine and aquatic birds (descended from dinos), reptiles (marine iguanas, sea snakes, etc), and of course the closest living relatives of birds the crocodiles are almost entirely aquatic with some marine variants. So why are we bang on certain no dinos were aquatic or marine adapted?
