Plot: Tino gets very excited for Halloween and maps out a huge candy-gathering strategy, but Lor, Carver, and Tish refuse to participate, claiming they have outgrown the holiday. Frustrated by his friends' sudden change in attitude, Tino devises elaborate pranks to give them a real scare. Trivia: This episode pays homage to the HBO TV series 'Tales from the Crypt'.

Plot: Eager to demonstrate her maturity, Tish hosts a stuffy salon party and "invites" Tino, Carver, Lor, Bluke, Tasha, Moira and Thompson. Trivia: When The Weekenders was cancelled, it was revealed that five episodes remained as mere outlines and scripts (a fact later confirmed by the show's creator, Doug Langdale). While these never made it to production, there were also five finished episodes yet to air in the US — including the series finale, 'Tino's Dad' — that had already been broadcast in Europe. Since the show doesn't display episode titles on-screen, a fan invented names for online episode guides, some of which were remarkably accurate. The episode in this post was dubbed 'The M-ah Word.' However, another fan-made title, 'Love Wrap', originated from a completely made-up episode. It was sparked by a forum post from Grey DeLisle (the voice of Lor) about a scene featuring Tino and Lor dancing. Although that scene actually belonged to the episode 'Dinner Party', the rumor spread so far that it inspired a fan to write a dedicated fanfiction, not to mention it fueled a massive interest in Tino and Lor as a 'couple'.

Plot: Carver is chosen as the Voice of Bahia Bay Middle School on radio station KQXR, but the stress of the broadcasting role sends him into a spiral of doubt, prompting Tino, Lor and Tish to step in with behavior modification tricks. Trivia: This is the episode where Mrs. Tonitini's squid obsession really hits the next level.

Hi! ^^ To be honest, a lot of the character traits written on the show's official website were inaccurate, with a few exceptions. BUT in Carver's case, I think they meant that he's the one who, along with Lor, is canonically considered 'cooler' thus more 'popular' than the other members of the group (as seen in the episode 'The Invited.') So, if one of them is likely to be considered 'popular' for their 'I don't care' attitude I think it's a toss-up between Carver and Lor!

Q: There is actually a clip... It's called "The Weekenders being responsible for my sense of humor for 15 minutes" or something like that. And it was just brilliantly put together because I'm like, "This is me! These are all of the moments that I remember, and all of the moments that helped form my sense of humor and my identity." So I love that. Doug Langdale: Yeah, it was funny. We did the first season of the show, and they had some kind of consultants come in to figure out what we could do to increase the ratings in the second season. We had this meeting where I sat down and this person was explaining to me what was wrong with the show and said, you know, "It's too much talk, not enough action." And just was kind of going on... And in the middle of the meeting, the door opened and someone leaned into the room and said, "We just beat Pokémon!" and closed the door and went back out. I slowly turned from the door back to the person who was talking, and they were just like "...Eh." Didn't know how to go on because we had just become the number one show. I was like, "So you were saying about how we can fix the show?" And I don't know, we did make a little bit of an effort, but I mean... it was just kind of the nature of the show that it was mostly people talking. It was not a big action-y show. It was more about small moments. It wasn't about huge emotions. It was just about day-to-day dealing with ordinary stuff. I mean, the characters were all sort of like vaguely neurodivergent, although we didn't have the term at the time, because everyone working in animation was kind of vaguely neurodivergent. So a lot of this stuff, when you're a kid who doesn't quite conform to how brains are supposed to work... a lot of minor things like feel like a big deal. It was just sort of interesting to do a show where that was sort of as big as it ever got was like "Oh, I have to deal with seeing my parents together for the first time in a long time." No one was ever dying. Nothing huge or tragic was ever happening. It was a little bit subdued. In the end the show wasn't a huge success, but I think the people who liked it really liked it, and that's all you can do. [Source]

Q: Are there any moments between the two series that stick out to you? If you've had a chance to revisit it from a consumer standpoint, maybe some of the jokes that you were really proud of, or storylines that you really enjoyed from the show? Doug Langdale: I liked getting to do the episode where we finally meet Tino's dad, which was the last episode. I played Tino's dad, but I wasn't allowed to... so we just didn't tell anyone [laughs] And then as were going along, I started to feel bad because I was like, I kind of feel like I'm taking a job away from someone who needs it. So every single minor character we saw in the show, we brought back. Normally there'd be maybe six people, seven people at the most, doing all of the voices in an episode and we had twenty-five people in that episode. But that was a fun one because you know, my parents divorced when I was like three or something. So they were always apart. And from when we moved to San Diego, right before I turned ten, until when I was almost eighteen, I never saw my mother and my father in the same place. So I would go visit my dad and I would come back. But when I was in my last year of high school he worked at MIT and in the admissions department, and one of the things he would do was kind of a recruitment. He would go around to high schools and talk to potential MIT applicants. So he arranged to come to San Diego where I was living and came out right shortly before I graduated high school. It was such a surreal experience seeing my parents together, 'cause I hadn't in such a long time that I was really interested to do that episode where we saw Tino's parents sort of awkwardly interacting. And there was a dinner scene where his parents were there and also his mom's boyfriend. So it was just this sort of weird, stiff, awkward interaction. That was a fun one to get to do. [Source]
