#JackedKirby - Thor vs Magneto.... KIRBY STYLE!!! 🧲🔨🧲🔨 This is a cover that I have never actually seen before from an issue I have never actually READ before... and I’m worse off for it. Cause this is simply amazing!!!! 🔨🧲🔨🧲 What a genius idea... pitting the Master of Magnetism vs the God of Thunder (and his metal hammer). Genius!!! And it came at a time (October of 1964) when a villain wasn’t pigeonholed into fighting one hero or team. 🧲🔨🧲🔨 This cover came from Journey Into Mystery #Issue109 and was towards the end of the Journey Into Mystery run... the series became The Mighty Thor soon after. #JackedKirby - The Imps From Pandora’s Box!!! 💥💥💥 As the company started to transition from anthology to super hero books with the success of the FF, there are a few instances where both were present in a single issue. Take Strange Tales #Issue109 from June of 1963. 💥💥💥 Release just a year and a half after FF #issue1 hit stands, this issue features our boy Johnny heading off on his own to get away from his teammates for some peace and quiet. Unfortunately he ends up wronging a local curmudgeon who also happens to posses Pandora’s Box... and the evil imps that reside inside it! 💥💥💥 The story is funny and not really all that believable as threatening to Johnny (it was plotted by Lee and written by Robert Bernstein) but it does feature some really dope creature designs from Jack.
