Last week, I was fortunate to join the leadership team of the IWMF’s Gwen Ifill Mentorship Program as we kicked off a yearlong program for 17 fellows. These brilliant women of color journalists from around the country will be matched with mentors and work toward their goals together.

Special thanks to Doug Mitchell, aka Padrino, my longtime mentor for bringing me onto the team and allowing me to work on such a special program.

This past week has been kind of crazy. Over the past several days my workload has been tremendously high, leaving my emotions to ride a roller-coaster and my body to run on fumes. Yet in the midst of all the madness, there were moments that distracted me from all the stress, like God had given me a glass of sweet tea to wash out the sour taste in my mouth.
