Chapter: Issues regarding Supplications, their Virtues and Supplications of the Prophet (pbuh)

Ziyad bin 'Ilaqah reported:

My uncle Qutbah bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil-akhlaqi, wal-a'mali, wal- ahwa'i (O Allah! I seek refuge in You from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations)."

When Allah Az Wa Jal placed us on this earth he has placed us here for an important reason, the establishment of his Tawheed singling out Allah in all acts of worships that we do. Allah tabarak wa ta’ala when he placed us on the earth he did not leave us upon the earth without being tested and trailed. There is not a person from the jin and mankind except that his portion of test was written for him and Allah Az wa Jal has clarified these tests in the noble Quran and they are different types, 

Allah Az Wa Jal says, 

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِنَ الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَنْفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ

And indeed, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives, and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient). 

[Noble Quran 2:155]

In this ayat, Allah has clarified for us that the tests they are different, and Allah has told us that the lack of wealth, resources, and loss of lives these are all forms of tests. 

And the believers they,  

الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah, we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.”

[Noble Quran 2:156]

Allah has also said, 

‎لَتُبْلَوُنَّ فِي أَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنْفُسِكُمْ وَلَتَسْمَعُنَّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا أَذًى كَثِيرًا ۚ وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَإِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ

You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqun (the pious) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts].

[Al’Imran 3:186]

In this Allah states that we will be tested even in our own bodies, and the tests that inflict us in our bodies they are the illnesses whether they are a physical illness or a mental illness or other than this from the different illnesses that a person may be tested with.

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said:

We counted Messenger's saying a hundred times during one single sitting: Rabb- ighfir li, wa tubb 'alayya, innaka Antat-Tawwabur-Rahim. (My Rubb! Forgive me and pardon me. Indeed, You are the Oft-Returning with compassion and Ever Merciful."
