you know what? that's funny and terrific at the same time. we were building all the willmackleno and completely ignoring gabe and joking about the "gabe is there" and gabe might be Him??? and will and gabe never broke up, off season started a will was with gabe, with him in cape cod (mack didn't like the photo bc gabe is there), then will in halifax with mack and immediately with gabe in chicago and mack is insecure because gabe is always there for realll! mack with a parasocial crush on will had the chance to know about will through gabe but now that mack and will are together the ghost of gabe is always there! will who is always showing is love for gabe publicly also
see my problem with gabe is that he seems so regular that it’s hard to figure out a fun angle to work with. like he seemed appropriately upset about will leaving bc but also seems to have understood will didn’t really have a choice and then him and will kind of immediately found a way to stay best friends through all of it. like okay healthy communication and mutual understanding of each other’s point of view serve but how am i supposed to build cathedrals with it. not even mack seems in any way threatened by him. truly the nail in the narry coffin. it is funny however that it’s true that the girlies on here are all fighting for their lives trying to insert leno in some kind of narrative when the truth is that really he was just kind of there all along. side character who hasn’t really been relevant to the plot since episode two but the show runners can’t kill him off so he keeps appearing every three episodes for one scene of dialogue to remind us he’s still there. it really was about gabe all along…….wow
