Cường is a Buddhist. Most of his rituals around the dead/respects/customs are centered around its tenets, and in his lore, the ghosts that flood his headspace sprout from both Vietnamese and Korean stories. He isn’t heavily practicing, no, and isn’t quite as devout as mother or the old aunties he’d saw often in his youth, but he does pray to the departed, does pray for good fortune, and with lit up incense and his head bowed low, he prays, too, for good health, his dutiful watchers, and believes no pain is purely senseless, unrecognized and ultimately insurmountable. Well, at least not for him at any rate. In addition, too, he often visits temples to offer fruits he’s grown, and occasionally what money he has left to spare.
