I fancy the lives of Kisaengs (and Japan's Geishas but that's for a different storytime). I believe I must have been one in a previous life. Not that I'm promiscuous or anything, or that they were... it's just that I am endeared towards people classed as less in society but are actually skilled in many discipline; learned in arts; and above, all masters of the craft of pleasure. Kisaengs were referred to as "possessing the body of the lower class but the mind of the aristocrat." However, for while they are at the bottom of the societal heirarchy (for reasons beyond their control) entertaining those at the top, I am of the opinion that there is nothing quite like the skill and intelligence of court entertainers. Patrons didn't become patrons overnight. I personally do not have anything against any woman (or man) utilizing her skills and body to work her way into survival, society, and life... and succeed at it.
