Emote (We Always Did Laugh in the Face of Chaos) This piece was set up during the USF ArtHouse event in 2010. It was a large, dangerous looking booth with a black curtain and a monitor mounted on it's outside. Inside was another monitor and a large glowing button. When the button was pressed a random segment of video was played from it's collection. These videos consisted of short pieces edited together from footage found on the internet. Some were funny, some awe-inducing or inspiring, and some deeply disturbing. The compilations averaged 30 seconds to a minute in length. There was also a video camera mounted inside the booth. This camera recorded the expressions of the viewers inside the booth and displayed it to passerby's outside. Viewers inside the booth could not view their own faces and those outside could not view the video being shown. Information was purposefully withheld to all parties with the intention of creating an aura of confusion, chaos, surprise, and general misinformation. Additionally, the recorded footage of the viewers was broadcast, live, to an internet feed whenever the machine was in operation.
