It just occurred to me (and maybe this was obvious idk) but Alastor says he's been at the hotel for a year or so which, no he hasn't? At least he hasn't been staying and "helping" at the hotel. Vaggi pretty plainly states (semi clunky dialogue too which implies it was meant to be notable) that he showed up a week before the start of S1, and we know that S1 takes place within the 6 month period between one Exorcism and the next. S2 kicks off and Charlie refers to Pentious saying that she watched him get murdered "last month", which realistically could be anywhere from a couple weeks to just under months, but either way that only adds about a month or two to the existing timeline. So, 7-8 months, not a "year or so".
So, either Rosie had Alastor lurking around the hotel for a few months before introducing himself to Charlie and the gang, or we have to assume that the first 3 episodes of S2 span the course of 4+ months. Alastor could also be exaggerating but given the script has been far from vague about the passage of time thus far I don't think that's the case here. I could see Alastor having been hiding out and waiting for the right moment to get involved at the hotel for whatever Rosie wants done, but if the first episodes really do span multiple months, that would mean Vox's anti-hotel and Morningstar family defamation campaign had been going on for 4 or more months prior to moving on to his larger plan.
Personally I think Vox being that patient and calculating up until the point where Alastor gives himself up would really show how scary and controlled he's capable of being, but I think it's more likely that Al was just lurking in the shadows around the hotel for a while.
