"In a truly crazy ass turn of events some marketing guru [at Midway] figured the best way to promote [Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, MLB Slugfest 2003, and Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy] was by enlisting three different nu metal bands to write original songs for each [one]. I have no idea how well this translated to actual units sold but it is something to behold.
