Hey, Charles! Just curious, but what are your thoughts about Amazon getting into the anime streaming business with their Anime Strike channel?
Thanks for the question, Jenn! I’m a big Amazon fan, but I’m not a fan of Anime Strike, and here’s why: Amazon is doing what a it seems a lot of stores are doing, which is taking things away from their premium content subscribers. Why on earth would I pay another $5 a month for a handful of shows when I already pay so much money per year for Amazon Prime? I have access to all this streaming content, but anime for some reason comes at a premium? And it’s that - it’s the principle of the issue (that and not wanting another automated payment that I’ll lose track of) more than the cost.
It’s annoying also because Amazon is picking up some of the most anticipated series each season and adding them to some strong series they own the rights to. I paid for one month of it last season when I thought a couple of their shows would turn out really good, and dropped it when I lost interest in them. Though it’s not true, I do feel like some of the best content is being barred from me unless I start streaming illegally, and that kinda stinks.
