After years of dysphoria and struggling to accept myself, I came to the realization that I'm conceptum, attracted to the concept of inflating.
Yes, sounds horrifically weird, I know, but I'm serious. It's moreso romantic+platonic attraction than sexual for me.
For context, I've had a special interest in balloons for pretty much my entire life, and the most intriguing part of them to me is when they inflate. I'm still unsure of the origins of it and why it's there, but my brain has had shape or form of emotional attachment to the concept. It relaxes me quite a lot.
Over the years, I've gone through tons of tons of trial and error and trying to figure out what to call my attachment to the concept, having numerous phases of denial (Like most people I was taught it is 'weird' + I used to struggle with globophobia). I'm so glad to know what it is now. After pushing through the many moments of dysphoric denial, and accepting the attraction for what it is, I realized that what I'm experiencing is healthy. It hasn't actually had any negative effects on my mental health whatsoever. The problem was the constant worry of being judged for having a form of attraction that drastically deviates from the societal norm, leading me to hide away these feelings for many years. But, as of now, I'm ready to embrace those feelings, no matter what anyone else thinks.
What I learnt is that you should never hide away a part of your identity just because its considered controversial, or is disliked/seen as disgusting by the vast majority of people you see online. You just need to keep this in mind; as long as its not a harmful paraphilia or anything genuinely problematic, you're fine.
I'm platonically attracted to the concept of inflating, and proud. I'm over-the-moon happy that I finally worked up the courage to get this off my chest.
