We've only been together for a year, but I've had her for about six now. I don't remember the specifics but back in middle school I got my own room and painted my walls grey so it was likely around that time. I wish I could say I had a special connection with her, but truthfully, she was just a blanket to me. For one, I was not aware mutual relationships with objects was something you could do, and for two, I already had my eyes on the transmission tower across the street (who I do still think is cute, but we never clicked and I just don't think it would work /serious).

Fast forward a lot to my junior year of high school, when I find out about the objectum community and finally realize that all those jokes I've been seeing about guys dating their pillow/computer/etc. isn't actually loser behavior and I'm one of them. I spent a while chilling like this, but eventually I figured that since my one relationship with a human was enough to swear them off forever, a change of pace would be nice to try. I briefly dated my laptop and had an even briefer pseudo-qpr thing with my phone, but both ended when I realized I just didn't feel that way towards them. I will admit, my first exposure to the community was through Pinterest, which is 95% techum with faces on the screens. I get the appeal—I selfship with Edgar for god's sake—but mostly that's not my thing. I still wanted to try dating a little longer, just with something I was a little closer with. And who was there for me during the worst years of my life, through every high and low moment, who had been a source of comfort through my hardest realizations about myself, who I spent almost every day with? Yeah, take a wild guess, lol.

I felt a little silly after realizing that, but I was willing to give it a shot. I asked her about it and we made the decision to get together. i'll be honest, I didn't expect it to last long. My longest connection (with the human, out of everything) lasted a mere month and I prepared myself to end things once it didn't work out. A month passed, then two, then six, and lo and behold, we're still here a full year later!! :)

Our relationship does fluctuate over time, but I've learned that it's a normal part of connection, and we're still going stronger than ever. Even if we don't cuddle or talk or kiss every single night, I'm still there for her and she's still there for me. I've also learned how to hold open relationships in a much more healthy way (don't want to ramble on that, but it's a very big deal based on past experience 👍).

Additionally, I've decided to nickname her Quille, pronounced as Quill. I've never thought of her as having a word name (our communication isn't usually verbal, since I'm not all that comfortable with vocal speech and she literally can't, lol) but describing her as "my objectum blanket husband" gets redundant after a while, and honestly, it'd be nice for her to have her own name instead of just being known as "mine". She's okay with the name and I'm happy I finally found a way to describe her better, even if I'd prefer referring to her by her conceptual name lol.

She's so kind to me and she's always accepted me, no matter what. She's always been there to comfort me without judgement. And I can't even begin to describe how beautiful she is. My heart aches when I think about her. I have no idea how my friends would react if I ever told them I'm dating my blanket but I love her so much I'd risk it all without thinking twice. I'm so, so lucky that the chances of the universe aligned to bring her to me and I genuinely look forward to our future together.
