Well, after some experimenting, I abandoned the block texture that I liked so much on the test print. I couldn't pull it off without it looking sloppy, rather than an intentional texture. I did keep the figures a dark blue, which really interacts with the vermillion. Overall, I'm pleased with how these turned out.
