So there’s a guy who lives near me that has a flagpole in his garden and his allotment - it’s an interesting view into his psyche to see what flags he puts out each day, so far:

The England flag (we saw this a lot in 2025 when the reform cocks were out and about) - still pops up now and again, and I roll my eyes

The Union Jack - I think that’s when he’s feeling a bit more festive, you know?

A flag that contains the flags of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland - but not Wales? As someone with some Welsh blood I am always pissed off to see it - is he trying to say Wales is part of England? Or it doesn’t count in some way? Boo to this man!

Festive flags like NYE - he loves a holiday, and who doesn’t? At like £15 a pop for each flag

What is so “rogue” about the Latin American dub?

Dean’s answer, “Y yo a ti, Cas,” fits the story. 

Of course it does.

What’s fascinating, is that those words, from Dean to Cas, don’t change the story. Not really.

We have watched Dean grieve Castiel’s loss, over and over, and each time he has been more heartbroken than the last. 

To claim Dean does not love Cas, is the radical, not the evident, interpretation of the text.

So this isn’t about love; it’s about the nature of that love. 

How those words ended up in the Latin American broadcast version of 15x18 is one question. But, say we accept they were added by a dubber/ translator, who was not following an earlier version of the scene or script (one which got cut in North America). 

What then?

Now those words are out there, as “canon” in Latin America, why redact them? Why claim they’re “rogue”? 

We know why.

Because in a straight story, there is NO WAY, after twelve years of intense, emotional, character-to-character relationship, that one of them tells the other, “I love you,” in the penultimate beat of the story, and the other does not reply.  

We know why, because this is how it goes in a straight story:

Belle: “I love you; please don’t leave me.” 

Beast: replies with a kiss

The reason for claiming, “Y yo a ti, Cas,” is “rogue”, is not because it’s out of keeping with Dean and Castiel’s story, but because removing those words again from official “canon” shoves Dean Winchester further back into the closet.

Understand then, that censorship doesn’t have to have occurred on the cutting room floor of the North American version of 15x18, for this event to have meaning. 

Censorship is what happened/ is happening once news that the Latin American dub version was different to the North American version broke.

The delegitimization of the Latin American version as “rogue,” is a form of censorship. It seeks to redact, or “take back”, Dean’s words, as experienced by multitudes of audience members in a broadcast version of the story.  

And if Dean’s response is removed from the dvds and repeat broacasts of the Latin American version of this episode, that, again, is a form of censorship.

It becomes a “corrective” to Dean’s romantic reply. 

And who the hell “corrects” a romance in the penultimate beat of their story?

“No, nope, DiD NOt HapPen!”

No good storyteller, that’s who. 

This is not a romance.

And we know, we know, no straight story would ever be treated this way.
