What's the difference between the "firm" and "insurance" reply? I'm completely lost.
Okay, if you're receiving conditional offers from your choices, then when the time comes for you to make your final decision as to where you want to go, you get to choose a firm and an insurance choice.
The firm choice is your first choice, the place you'd most like to go, and will go if you meet the requirements of the offer. The insurance choice is a back up, usually a course with lower grade requirements, so that if you miss the requirements for your firm choice but get them for your insurance, you have a place at a university.
If you're getting unconditional offers, you can only have a firm choice as you've already met the requirements and don't need a back up.
Hello! I have already sent in my applications and got accepted by the University of Manchester (conditionally), can I ask what that means? What's the difference between getting accepted conditionally and unconditionally? And what does it mean when you get "Invited"? Thanks for the help! You're a lifesaver!
I shall refer you to this post, and I shall also stick this question in the FAQ's, so thanks for prompting me :)

sorry i'm too lazy to add my own questions
Hello, I'm filling in my ucas application at the moment and I've reached the reference section and now I'm stuck. I really don't get what I'm supposed to do. Should I pick a teacher to write me a recommendation later and make her send it to me? I'm sorry but I'm so confused. :(
You're applying as an individual right?
All you have to do is get a teacher to agree to write you a reference and then get their contact details.
Enter their contact details into the reference section on 'apply' and click 'send reference request'. The teacher in question will then get an email and instructions on how to attach their reference for you to your UCAS form, but you don't need to worry about all that. There is, however, a handy information sheet that you can give to your teacher that can help them with the process, I do believe you can find this on the reference section as well.
After that, just wait for the email and the little red tick to appear in the reference box telling you it's all complete and voila!
Aw I'm sorry to hear that :( But I'm sure you're better off without them away. I was too young to participate seriously but I was a complete Justin freak, it was insane, in all my home videos all I mention is him, so I'm kinda proud of that. But I LOVED Backstreet boys so much, they were always in the background, so yeah I guess I was team both. Yeah tumblr hate is pretty out of control, oh well. :P
Yeah, I do think I'm better off without them. I know some of them did much more experimenting during high school than I did. I had always kinda been the weirdo of the group. I was involved in gymnastics and got better grades (especially in high school). Sometimes, I wonder if that led to a little resentment that I was a naturally better student, but then I realize that we naturally grew apart because that's what always happens to me. I can't really name any people that have stayed in my life longer than 6 years, and I haven't had a best friend since before I moved in 1999.
