Ashen and hollow, her cheeks were drained of warmth. Death had already seeped deep into her bones.
Gently, Zevlor placed his glowing palms on her forehead. The heat emanating from his touch and the rasping hellish incarnations emanating from his mouth contrasted with the icy stillness of her body.
There was nothing at first, until a slight twitching of one of her legs. Involuntarily, her fingers curled around his, clinging on like a newborn grasping for life. And slowly it seemed as though life was returning to her body.
A rattling cough escaped her lips, dried blood choked out, followed by a quick blink as she desperately tried to sit up.
Orin struggled against the darkness that had come over her.
Soothing words he spoke to her, assuring her that it was all over now. She could rest - in the comfort of his embrace. She was safe at last, finally free from all those dark urges.
Tears ran down her cheeks, forming paths for the first hint of red.
So...this all came about in a manner of jest. I said to a friend "let's do a punk/electro-thrash cover of Sailor Moon" [LAUGHTER INTENSIFIES] Hours later... "Hey, that's not a bad idea."
