Yunnan Sourcing Immortal Monkey Shou Puerh
My list of tea is here. If you have any questions comments or concerns please feel free to send me a PM! Want to decide which tea I review next? Don’t hesitate to ask!
I’m not afraid to admit, that I really don’t care for shou puerh. Something about the musty earthiness is off putting for me. I’m a huge fan of floral and fruity tasting teas.
With that said, this tea, was NOT offputting. Immortal monkey was smooth with earth tones but a sweet finish. I thought there was no hope for me, that I wouldn’t find a reasonably priced shou puerh that I liked in my life time. Looks like I was wrong.
Immortal Monkey brews up a dark amber color that almost looks blood red in certain lighting situations. I steeped this tea for 15 seconds at 205F, increasing the time with each infusion.
See that kind of glimmer on the top of the tea? That’s the tea oil, and my my is it delicious. I really enjoyed this shou puerh and it continued to mellow out and bring out the earthy sweetness with each infusion. I even stopped drinking it for a few hours while I did my tea stream (which I typically start off with a fresh tea) and came back to it afterwards because I felt it was that enjoyable. If you wish to purchase Immortal Monkey, you can do so here 20$ for 250g of tea!
