The most important thing with choosing a font is to make sure the letters are easily decipherable from one another so your readers don’t have to spend precious mental energy identifying letters.
There’s a trick that Hische uses to make sure your font choice is a good one. She recommends that you make your fonts pass the Il1 test.

In all seventeen years of his life, Isaac had never once gotten a detention -- he was a good kid, a fact that everyone knew and expected of him. It kind of came with the territory of being the devout son of a preacher. Perfect grades and punctuality, his clothes conservative and his hair carefully styled: these were the things that his teachers and schoolmates alike associated with him. Isaac didn’t really have many friends. There were a couple of kids in his classes that he hung around with and spent his lunch breaks with, one in particular, and she (alongside her family) were members of his father’s congregation, so she at least understood his upbringing. For the most part, though, Isaac felt a little isolated, and making his way to the detention hall of the high school he had spent the last three years in certainly wasn’t helping. The infraction had been minor, too; his car had broken down on the way to school, which had made him late, and in the confusion he’d parked in a teacher’s space in the lot. The detention he’d been given as a result was largely just an allocated slot of time in which he needed to catch up on the classwork he’d missed with his lateness.
Despite knowing he wasn’t really in trouble with anyone, the blond felt a little nervous about heading into the detention hall. There were only two other people present when he tapped lightly on the door and let himself in, a teacher and one other student, a boy in his grade that he vaguely recognized. Nick was the sort of person that Isaac tended to avoid; despite thinking of himself as much more modern and non-judgemental than his parents, he was guilty in this instance of judging books by their covers. As instructed by the teacher, he settled into a seat and slid the messenger bag he used from his shoulders so that he could retrieve the books he needed and open them up. Maybe this experience didn’t have to be all bad; he did need to catch up on what he’d missed, after all. It wasn’t to be as easy as he had hoped it might, however -- after a few minutes of attempting to concentrate on the notes in front of him, his attention was derailed by another student bursting into the room and informing the teacher that the Chemistry club needed her help. When she told them that she trusted them to be alone for a few minutes and proceeded to leave the room, Isaac had no idea what to do, and he couldn’t concentrate any more. Finally, he glanced over at the other boy, the slightest frown marring his features. “I can feel you staring at me,” he said, his tone almost accusatory. “Did I do something to offend you?”
