Something I wish were done more in xenofiction is the main cast interacting with other animals rather than just hunting or being afraid of them. (Once again, Watership Down glazing 💪) WD did this excellently with its folklore; IHopeSo (an awesome webcomic about lions :P) has its main cast interact with hyenas, leopards, and the like. As much as I dislike The Warriors Redux, the fact that Windclan cats can have brief conversations with other carnivores is an interesting thing! Like, unless it's established that other animals have magically gone extinct, I want more XF stories where characters are actually interacting with the native fauna! What do foxes think of wolves, knowing they're major competitors? What do lions think of hyenas, considering hyenas can and will steal their kills? Hey, wolves have been known to play with ravens from time to time. XF writers, you guys are awesome, but please acknowledge that other animals exist in the environment, s'il vous plait 💔 💔
