"If we ever adopt pets, I think we should get two black cats."

His girlfriend's suggestion softly stirred Freed out of his own train of thought and he blinked once before fully registering her words. It was a randomly brought up subject and if he was completely honest then it suprised him a little. They'd never talked about pets and he wasn't sure they had to time to look after them. Maybe... some time... That, and he'd always thought that Mira was more of a dog person.

So he asked. "Black cats? Why black cats in particular?"

With a smile that was more than just softness, a certain bitter undertone lingering in it that came from thinking of the past, the barmaid sat down next to him and rested her head on his shoulder. Instinctively Freed wrapped one arm around her, keeping silent as he was sure that he'd get an answer.

And the reply surprised him even more than the suggestion had. It surprised and touched him all the same.

on ron’s first day at easy high he is so nervous he’s shaking. but he knows first impressions are everything so he slaps a scowl on his face and stalks into the building like he owns the place, really putting off those bad boy vibes 

when carwood ‘actually ray of sunshine’ lipton first lays eyes on ron he stops dead in his tracks. he has never seen anyone so beautiful. and, being the friendly lil pup that he is, he decides to go introduce himself (and turns bright red when he does, because ron’s stare is so singularly focused on him) 

ron is not sure what to do with this smart, soft-spoken blonde boy that has suddenly started following him everywhere and insisting on showing him around, but at this point it’s easier not to question it so he lets the beautiful boy drag him to meet his friends 

after that first day it becomes a routine. whenever ron arrives he’s immediately swept away by carwood, who chatters amiably, and directs him to where he’s supposed to be. he even sits with carwood and his friends at lunch (although he doesn’t speak to anyone else, preferring to use car as a buffer between himself and them) 

pretty soon ron has earned a reputation as a scary badass, and everyone is completely dumbfounded as to why someone like him chooses to associate with the nicest person in school

months later, people start to ask for dates to prom. carwood really wants to go with ron but he’s too scared to ask for fear he’ll be rejected and ruin the fragile ‘whatever this is’ that exists between them 

ron of course would love nothing more than to take carwood to prom but he can’t help but feel like he doesn’t deserve this literal ball of human sunshine. carwood is everything that ron is not (which he doesn’t understand is what makes them perfect for each other) 

it takes all of carwood’s friends, especially nixon, to convince ron that he should just ask car already, and then they all help plan how to pop the question, helping him get all dressed up, and pick the right flowers, etc

ron shows up on carwood’s doorstep and sputters his question and of course carwood says YES TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH in what has to be his Sassiest Moment Ever
