You walked through the SDN building, humming a tune as you had brought some lunch from outside. "Where the boxes at?" You repeated in the tune, singing the stupid song you couldn't get out of your head since this morning. You walk past Robert and smiled at him, stopping as you had two coffees in hand. "Hey, Rob." You said as you nodded at him, seeing Robert walk over.
"Hey, (H/N)." Robert said as he looked at the coffee. "Oh, thanks. You're a lifesaver." He groaned out as he grabbed the cup that said 'Robert'. You nodded and chuckled, tilting your head slightly. In the mist of you two talking, Flambae turns the corner and sees the two of you talking.
Flambae would be lying to himself if he said he wasn't yearning for you for the longest time. It was almost at first sight with him, seeing you in your uniform. You were like a fire he couldn't put down but wants to add onto it. Your voice rang in his head whenever you were away, always zooming in on photos you take on social media. Every time your fingers grazed against him, every lingering touch that felt like something more, it drove him crazy.
He bit his lip, heart pounding as he hid behind the corner he just turned. He grumbled as he saw Robert's eyes dart around, frowning his eyebrows fiercely. "Stupid normie." He said to himself about Robert, seeing you laugh and lean against him; protecting the other coffee. Lately, you've been spending a lot of time with Robert. Or at least to Flambae, you were. He was protective. Territorial. He groaned at the sight of you laughing hard with Robert, thinking the worst. That you forgot about him and moved on to Robert because he waited too long. He bit his lip and stormed off to the break room, thinking Robert took you away from him.
--------------------------
You sent texts to Flambae, looking around after a while; long after your talk with Robert. You hummed to yourself, a bit confused as you didn't see him around anywhere. Usually, he'd be lingering around you at this time. It felt off without him here, a bit colder ironically enough. "Maybe on an early dispatch?" You murmured as the coffee you brought him was getting cold, though you figured he can always just heat it back up. You sighed, frowning your eyebrows as you looked at your phone again.
You figured it was best to just go to the break room and put his coffee in the fridge. As the break room got closer, you saw Waterboy walking down the hall. He passed the room before you, looking in before quickly looking back and putting a bit of speed in his walk. "Woah, woah, woah, hey, hey." You rose your free hand up and laughed, seeing Waterboy slow back down to look at you. "What's in there? You look like you saw a ghost, Herm." You noted as he then gulped a bit, shrugging as he stammered over his words.
"I-I-I'll just....check this room out l-later. Sorry for....scaring you." He said awkwardly, rubbing his hands together as his gloves made a slight squeaking against each other. He then grabbed his equipment again and nodded to you, ducking his head as he continued to walk. You raised an eyebrow at him, walking backwards a bit as you waved.
"....See ya?" You said as you then stepped in the doorway of the break room. You took a quick peek in, then back at Waterboy before stopping dead in your tracks. You looked back in the room and saw Flambae hunched over in a chair, covering his eyes with both hands. You bit your lip and sighed, frowning your eyebrows as your feet subconsciously started to gravitate towards him. Your need to comfort him felt too compelling, seeing his shoulder slightly bounce with a sniffle.
Your lower lip pouted out a bit as you then set the cup of coffee down, earning his attention. He looked back and up at you, seeing the upset expression on your face. He quickly turned back and grunted, dampening his eyes with his hands. "Oh, hey." He said lowly, sniffling one more time before sighing. ".....whats up?" Flambae sulked over the table again and couldn't stand to face you again.
"Chad, what's wrong?" You asked softly as you placed the coffee in front of him, your hand placed softly against his back. "I've been looking for you all morning." You said, pulling a seat next to him.
"Errands." Flambae lied as he hid his face again, sulking heavily. "Nothing's wrong, (Y/N)." He murmured to you, tapping on the table as you saw his leg shaking. You sighed and leaned in, your hand inching towards his.
"C'mon. Don't hide from me. Something's bothering you. You never hide from me." You said softly to him, looking at him struggle to open up to you. He groaned as he leaned back, looking at your hand. He didn't pull away from you, flashes of Robert and you popping up in his mind. "Please look at me..." You said, gently holding his cheek to have him look at you; your thumb brushing against his beard.
".....You make me crazy, you know that?" Flambae said, his voice cracking a little as he chuckled. "I thought....maybe what we had was something nice." You tilted your head in confusion, facing your body more towards him. "Maybe I just....read too much into it and got myself hurt."
"Chad." You cooed out as you held his hand, his big hand warming up as he flinched a bit at it. "What are you talking about?" You asked and smiled a bit, seeing that he was basically trying to tell you the obvious. "What makes you say that?"
Flambae grunted a bit as he didn't move his hand, seeing that you held the one that had his missing fingers. He felt your fingers play with the only three there, heart beating out of his chest. "What is this?"
"What is what?"
"Us."
You felt your heart in your throat, his fingers slowly starting to stroke yours as well. You saw the nervousness in his eyes, like it was everything he's been working up the courage to talk about with you. His relationships have always been shaky, and a lot of the times they were hookups. But he was sure with you. You were the consistency he needed. He just didn't want to be used again.
After a while, you gulped as his eyes staring a hole through your lips. You leaned up a bit and caught his face in one of your hands. You stood up, standing over the leg that was once shaking. His large body didn't need to stand, seeing that you leaned down a bit. You stopped half way, closing your eyes as he met you in the middle. As you two gently kissed, you pulled away and stroked his shoulders.
"I saw you and Robert." Flambae grumbled, telling you the reason for his upset tears. "He was too close to you. I got upset." He closed his eyes as you peppered his face with kisses.
You leaned back and sucked your teeth, giving him a raised eyebrow. "That's what upset you? Big baby. He's cool but....not really my type. I'm into Chad type of guys." You teased as he let out an airy chuckle, wiping his face from tears. "By the way, I would like to be something with you. To answer your question." You cooed to him, your voice at a volume that was only for Flambae.
Flambae clenched his teeth, holding your forearms lovingly. "I'm serious, you know? I want to go all the way." He ran his thumbs along your sleeves, your hands cupping his cheeks. "Something in me settles when I'm with you. I've never really....God, do you hear what I'm saying? Getting all fucking sappy."
"No, no! Keep going. I would love to hear how down bad you are for me." You said, laughing as your hand reached the nape of his neck; scratching softly.
"Fuck off." He said, sharing a hearty laugh with you while grabbing his coffee as you then quickly hugged him. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders, sitting in his lap as you sunk your face in his neck. He grunted, his brain malfunctioning for a moment at this.
"I hate seeing you cry, Chad. It hurt me seeing you hurt. Just come talk to me next time. Okay?" You said, a hand flying to the back of his head. "You usually do that all the time."
"Got too upset."
"I didn't mean to get you upset." You frowned a bit as you pulled away, looking at him as you then stood up. He let out a tiny, pathetic sigh as you got up; the warmth of you leaving his lap. "Mind if I make it up tonight?" You asked as you walked behind him, hand stroking from one shoulder to another. "I can take you out to get some Chinese food. We can talk more over it."
Flambae looked to you and smiled, casting you doe eyes. "S-Sure. Yeah, sounds great." He said as you then kissed his cheek, smiling widely as you walked away.
"I'll see you later, handsome!" You said as you laughed softly, seeing his whole demeanor change now. The reassurance you gave him seemed to have a lasting effect, knowing that you only have eyes on him now.
"Call me." He said as he waved back, waiting for you to leave to finally breathe from what felt like an eternity. He leaned back in the chair and sighed, rubbing his face as he then realized how silly he probably looked worrying so much.
He then had heard heavy panting from the corner, seeing Invisigal pop up to get some air.
"......How long have you been there?"
"......since you came in."
Flambae then stared at her for a while, then slowly standing up as he pointed at her. He walked to the door and pointed at his eyes, then at her. "Tell anyone I said anything and-"
"I don't care, dude. I won't tell anyone about you getting all sappy for (H/N)." Invisigal said as she went into the fridge, walking out swiftly. "Big baby!" Invisigal shouted before turning invisible again and before Flambae can even retaliate with a quick witted remark. Flambae sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling even more embarrassed as his shoulders caught on fire. He then shook his head and saw his shoulders, blushing a bit as he patted them quickly with a grumble; hating how down bad he was for you.
