Did some #carpentry before work today. My lovely #wife made a special request for something she called a "Crafter's Cradle". Essentially, it's a 12 inch #mitrebox without any cuts. I used some paint grade #pine 1x4 and some counter sunk 1-1/2" deck screws. In most of the pictures she showed me, the edges were covered in felt, to protect the "craft" being cradled I imagine. I elected to use some left over drawer liner from my #toolbox #project . It padded the edges better than felt, and was grippy, allowing better control of whatever was in the cradle. I also put some of the drawer liner on the bottom of the cradle in order to keep it from scratching or sliding across her table. It took me about 45 minutes to make, even with a trip to by the lumber. Total cost was under 10 bucks, and I still have enough wood to make two more. They list on #Etsy for between 15 and 40 dollars. If I had made more than one, I could have cut the time and cost per unit drastically. So, we saved money on the product and on shipping. Plus, my wife was using it less than an hour after she requested it. Extra brownie points for me. A little #selfreliance goes a long way. Oh, ignore that #gators logo. That was a special request from one of her special needs friends. #woodwork #woodworking #tools #ibuildmyown
